We only had two productive interviews, so we don’t really have much to go on for the future. Generally, the team was focusing in on the fact that there wasn’t knowledge of the clinic, there were misperceptions about how health care was consumed in the community, and that cost is a huge concern.  

The Point of View our team looks to build off of is the ideas of misperception and the community knowledge of the cost-friendly

We then wrote down some of their concerns and brainstormed ideas about how we might address them. We wrote down a series of HOW MIGHT WE questions to help guide our discussion about addressing the community member's concerns. Going around the room, we were able to hear about other's experiences and the concerns they heard. It was interesting to hear that a lot of the concerns/comments matched up with ours. We were then able to map out and connect our community members by commonalities. This was a fun and engaging activity. It helped the class come together and express themselves through music which was really cool. We then went back to the drawing board and continued to put up information that we got from our Mona Center site visit. The board is really starting to come together and we are excited to see that the person we interviewed is very much so connected to other members in the community. We wanted to stick to as many themes as we could, but especially wanted to focus on community and awareness as those are what our interview subject discussed the most.  Our main solution involved offering healthy food opportunities to the community and using the Mona Center to promote these services.  

Prototype: A Farmer's Market 
This seemed like a great way to synthesize all of our solutions into one system/product. Now that we have identified a prototype, there are a number of considerations that need to be taken into account when pitching our idea. First, we are going to need to flesh out some of the details to ensure that have a good idea of what our 'ask' is. In other words, what are we proposing? Once a month? Every two weeks? How many restaurants and local businesses do we want to join? Where will we get most of our fresh fruit and vegetables? Where and when will the event be? How much do we think it will cost to put up such an event? Since we spent a lot of time working on deriving valuable information and insights from the interview, I felt as though the What, How, Why synthesis didn't provide too much new insight that would inform our prototype, but instead revealed to me how our interviewee may be biased or how his current behavior could have influenced his opinions. Our interviewee Jim didn't seem to have much concern or stress at that point in his day, and that is probably why he was so amiable and willing to have a conversation with us.  This reinforced some of our previous interview synthesis activities.
For the prototype, our original idea was to draw a storyboard or map for out farmer's market idea, but we realized that none of us could draw well enough to make a good storyboard or map illustration to show to someone that would well-articulate our idea.  Instead, we opted to create a lego model of a farmer's market at the Mona Center--which actually was quite nostalgically fun to create (see above)!
After we finished our prototype, we went out around ESJ to get some preliminary feedback. Our feedback mainly focused on costs, as we articulated how out farmer's market would be in a financially disadvantaged area. This is important to consider, and we as a group are still considering how to overcome a cost hurdle or a way to subsidize the price so all products and activities at the farmer's market is inclusive and affordable.
