They did not ask for permission also. You would be very upset and hurt. When you post something online, ALWAYS respect the privacy of others. Treat others the way that you would want to be treated (the golden rule). Always make sure that if you are posting something about someone else, ask them first. Be careful with your passwords, whereabouts, videos, and pictures. You want to keep your information private from others and not publicly share it. Privacy is very important online because everything is normally made public. Just remember, not everything has to be shared.

Sometimes using capital letters is to draw attention towards something. But when writing or posting, all caps is taken as if you are yelling at a person. If you do not yell at them when you are talking to them in person, why would you yell at them through a screen? Instead of using all caps, try to us asterisks (***) to draw attention to a topic, idea, picture, or video.

Pre-assessment:
I will begin this lesson by passing out a handout for each student with a list of eight do's of netiquette and eight don'ts of netiquette. Since these students are in second grade, I will make sure that these terms are easy for them to understand. The handout will also be shown on the smartboard in class for me to read as well. 
Once each student is given a sheet, we will go over them as a class as a whole. I will read some of them and if the students volunteer, they also can read some.
In my classroom, their desks or tables will be divided into small groups. This will allow for an easy group discussion before coming back as a whole group. After going over the do's and don'ts of netiquette, we will break off into small groups to discuss why these rules are important.
Small group and class discussions will allow for everyone to bounce their ideas off of one another and further our discussion about netiquette before the activity.

Activity:
As a fun way to get the class involved and enjoy learning about netiquette, we will play bingo using the do's and don'ts of netiquette. Each square on the bingo card will be either a do or don't. The words on the squares will match the words on the handout sheet so it is easier for them to remember rules. They will be able to hear me say the rule, read the rule on the paper, and match it to the correct square.

Post-assessment: 
After we conclude playing bingo, we will come together as a class to go over the rules one more time. Students will be able to create their own good and bad examples of netiquette by following the rules.

Pre-assessment:
We will discuss as a class the rules of netiquette. There will be a list on the smartboard for the class to see. After going over them, we will split off into groups to discuss further the topic of netiquette and good and poor examples when using netiquette. We will then come together and share what was discussed in groups. The discussion on examples of netiquette will help the students think of their own for the activity.
An example of using good netiquette is using the golden rule when communicating online.
An example of bad netiquette is using all caps to emphasize what you are talking about.

Activity:
This activity will take place on the computers either in their classroom or at the computer lab. On a google doc, each student will have to come up with three examples of good netiquette and three examples of bad netiquette. They can use the rules of netiquette that I have provided as assistance when creating their own examples. Once they are completed, they will then share the document with me.

Post-assessment: 
Once the students have each sent me the examples they have come up with, it will allow me to see if they are understanding netiquette. It will also allow me to see if they can create good and bad examples on their own. Anonymously, I will also share some of the examples the students wrote with the class. Before doing the netiquette project on Padlet, I had no idea what netiquette meant. I honestly have never heard the word before this assignment. But when I first heard the word "netiquette", I immediately thought of etiquette. Acting with etiquette is very similar to acting with netiquette. The only difference is that netiquette is the online aspect by the use of technology instead of face-to-face interactions. Netiquette is the combination of two words: network and etiquette. It is about following a certain set of rules of how to act with proper respect online. One of the main points that I took away from learning about netiquette is how important it is for people of all ages to acquire it. No matter if you are forty, twenty, or ten years old, it is always important to practice netiquette when working online. 

Prior to doing research on netiquette, I was unaware of how important it is to teach students of all ages proper netiquette. With technology becoming implemented into societal norms, sometimes I forget that not everyone knows how to properly act online. There is also a chance that not all of the students in the classroom have used a computer or the internet before coming to school. One person might think something is okay to post online when in reality it is not acceptable. For example, a student in your class might think that typing "HOW ARE YOU DOING" is the proper way to ask a question. Another example is a student might use inappropriate language on an assignment. They might think that it is okay to say because they use that language at home or they had heard an adult say it before. It is the job of a teacher to inform their students that using capital letters in an excessive way seems as if you are shouting at someone. It is also the job of the teacher to inform their students of proper language that can be used in the classroom. Just because you hear it does not mean it is okay to say or write.  As a teacher, of any age, netiquette needs to be implemented into the classroom curriculum. Before using any form of technology in the classroom, students must know how to act properly, respectfully, and kindly online. 

Overall, my research on netiquette has strengthened my point of view on how important netiquette is inside and outside of the classroom. Before knowing what the term meant, I always knew and was taught how to act when using the computer. For example, no vulgar language, be kind, respect others' opinions, do not overshare information, and treat people the way that you would want to be treated. Learning more detail about netiquette has shown me how important it is to enforce inside of the classroom. It has also shown me what I specifically should and should not be doing when using technology.
