Even tough the dust bowl had a lot of hardships, it taught the people of that time a lot of lessons that impacted the for future farming methods. For example they learned to stop ripping out prairie grasses because that made too much room for the wind to blow away the soil, in fact, they even planted trees and more prairie grass to help prevent the dust storm or anything like that from happening again!

The dust bowl was not some jolly old happy thing that happened down at the prairie. No, this was serious. Deadly. Destructive. Cars crashed, and people were rushed to the hospital for something called "dust pneumonia." It is still to this day unknown if anyone died. Lets hope not a lot.

Black Sunday. I don't think it is even possible to imagine the terror and horror people felt on Sunday, April 14, 1935. It was a beautiful day. The sky was blue, and the people were enjoying it. They had not had very many good days like this in a while. Until it hit. A large black cloud swarmed over the prairie. Was it a storm? Yes, it was, but probably not the usual storm you are thinking about. It was a big dark cloud of dust. Farmers were near blind from getting dust in there eyes. Cars crashed. People huddled together in their homes praying for it to go away. It finally did and this event was know as the thing we know today, Black Sunday.

Why is it important to monitor the lithosphere, maintain soil quality, and be good stewards?

We need to monitor the lithosphere because thats where all the soil and dirt is. This way, we can see if there is any problems with the soil like sudden shortage and stuff like that. We need to maintain soil quality so we can have the soil that we need to do simple stuff like grow crops in a safe way. If we happen to not maintain the soil the way it should, some disasters could happen like the dust storm. We just need to remember that we were givin a place to do our duties on (earth) and we dont need to try to change the way it is because we think it will fit our needs.

Do humans limit the amount of soil quality?

Yes, they do. For example, the dust bowl. The soil was just fine until humans came and ripped out the prairie grass. Then the soil was not used to the new environment and look what came out of it, a scary dust storm. But humans also come up with ways to help the soil. For example, if you look in flower pots, you can see little white balls all over the soil. This is basically the soils healthy food to help it process good plants.
