         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Priorities for the scrub team:</strong></div><ul><li>Firstly, scrub nurses ensure that all equipment in the microsurgery are correct and intact especially the tip of the instrument.</li><li>Arrange the instrument in sequence according to surgeon’s preference or procedure</li><li>Ensure that microsurgery instruments are placed above e.g penny towel for easy access for surgeons especially during hand surgery</li><li>Pass the required instrument to surgeon in a proper way</li><li>Wipe the instruments after each used by using a gauze or penny towel.&nbsp;</li><li>Ensure that hand is always above the sterile field to avoid contamination</li></ul><div>&nbsp;</div><div><strong>Circulating nurse can help to;</strong></div><ul><li>Open consumables or any required sets that is needed intra-operatively  by observing the procedure and with the help of the TV screen as well.</li><li>Should there be any bleeding, circulating nurse can help to standby the medication for hemostasis like the Duraseal etc.</li></ul>]]></description>

We have to ensure that microscope are being kept properly after each used to avoid any damages to the lens. Microscope lens should be wiped using a clean cloth/anti-bacterial cloth after each used.</div><div>&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Usually in OT, we have OTTA to help push the microscope inside the theatre , and they will help to drive too. As well, circulating nurse must know hot to drive the microscope independently. It can be driven with any direction. But be mindful that Ot have limited space , so don’t push so fast or large motion while driving. And be careful of the surroundings as well, do not overstep on other people’s feet.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Priorities for the scrub team:<br>- Ensure correct instrument set are open for the surgery.<br>-Ensure all the tip of the micro instrument are intact especially micro scissors and jewellers forcep.<br>- Ensure to place all micro instrument on top of penny towel and near surgeon for easier access and to protect patient as the tip of micro instrument can be sharp.<br>- To clean tip of micro instrument gently with wet gauze or wet merocel wipes.&nbsp;<br>- To always pass the instrument in the direction that surgeon could use it without having to adjust as surgeon eyes are fixed on the microscope.&nbsp;<br>- Always have an extra set available on standby in case of any instrument is contaminated or drop intra-operatively.&nbsp;<br><br>Circulating nurse can help to:<br>-Open consumables such as sutures before scrub nurse or surgeon even asked for it by observing through the tv screen.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The difficult part to maintain for the microscope is usually the part that is frequent use. The lens and the handle of the microscope. For the lens: once it is scarred it will affect the surgeon view and unable to see the operation field properly. Next for the microscope handle, surgeon tends to adjust the handle while their eyes is on the microscope lens to handle the height of the microscope. Due to not seeing the microscope handle, they may use excessive force and break the handle.</div>]]></description>

However, new users, who are unaware of this feature, or forgotten to press the button, would force the handle to move, cause damage to the handle.<br>Another damage is always happen on the lens.          <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>What are the priorities for the scrub team and how can the circulating nurse anticipate?<br></strong>Priorities scrub Nurse:<br>1. Micro instruments handling. Care of the tips of the instrument from bend or blunt.<br>2. Correct way of passing micro instrument to the surgeon as the surgeon focus on the microscope. To prevent sharp injury.<br>3. Pass the correct instrument by placing the instrument in the correct sequence. By placing in the correct sequence, the scrub nurse can anticipate what are the micro instrument needed for the next step.<br>4. Pay intention to the tv screen, the scrub nurse can anticipate the step and prepare before they need the instrument.<br>5. To always check the tip of the instrument and clean the instrument using lint-free cloth after receiving back from the surgeon.&nbsp; <br>6. Micro instrument cannot be mix with other heavy instrument. Use mayo trolley for micro instrument layout if not enough space in the main trolley. <br><strong>How can the circulating nurse anticipate?<br></strong>1. During Team brief ask surgeon for any additional set needed to be standby to prevent leaving the theatre during surgery.&nbsp;<br>2. No playing phone!!!<br>3. Observe the surgery through the tv screen to anticipate any consumable that need to be open.<br>4. Always stay next to scrub nurse to witness micro needle.<br>5. Keep voice low volume to prevent distraction. </div>]]></description>
