The style of this music video is live footage and an in concert video. It is basically a video showing the concert, featuring that one song and making it the music video. It could be in a concert or it could simply be a live performance that may not be in a huge concert but definitely in front of a crowd.

The technique of this is that it is a live piece of footage which requires an audience. It can be used if there is no music video for the actual song and they need to have one, they can easily put the footage down as a music video. This is easier done when there is a concert already happening as opposed to making it live just for the sake of the music video. The one issue with this is that it is live so it cannot be stopped and have another take again as it is happening there in that moment. This means that there are more than one camera at each angle which means they have more footage to choose from and edit.

The reason these music videos are so successful is that they relate to the fans. Even though there is a large audience in the video, many people may have not been able to attend it and it may be an old music video, like this example, that some people simply weren't born in the time that it came out so to have a music video with live footage gives new fans and old fans who could not be there at the event a chance to witness the concert and see it live.

Interpretive

The definition of an interpretive music video is basically a music video that can be interpreted in different ways. People have different minds and look at things differently. One music video may not have the same message to one person as it did to another.

The technique in this specific music video is the use of a little girl and the singer featured in the video. Pink! the singer is comforting a little girl who many seem to think the two are separate people whereas another range of the audience thought that the two were the same people and after re-watching the music video again, it's easy to spot that they are the same people once you watch it for the second time and give it more thought. After that, it has completely changed your view on the music video; a main purpose of interpretive style.

This style is successful as it gives the song more depth. It opens possibilities and thoughts within the song and it makes people wonder more about it therefore giving recognition to the song and it's true meaning. People may listen to the song and still not understand it fully but the music video compliments the lyrics and brings them to life.

Narrative style is a music video involving a storyline. It looks like a short film usually and it has a meaning to it.

The techniques of this style is the use of actors and short clips that create a story for people to watch whilst listening to the song. It's shot as if it is an actual film and people are engrossed in it.

It's successful as it brings the song to life, giving it visuals for people to watch and relate to. The lyrics may not be enough for someone or the lyrics may not be understood properly by everyone but seeing it in the music video portrayed in the story, they may get a better understanding of the song and the lyrics. Especially if it's a sad love song, it's an emotive move to make the audience sympathise with the characters on the screen and with the song playing in the background.

The audience may perceive the story as something that brings the song to life and gives a visual understanding of it and it's definitely entertaining to watch a story of the song but the audience may have problems with the lack of the artist or group being involved but there are rare music videos where the artists are not featured in the storyline. The example below, the artist is the main focus and star of the storyline which provides her fans, the audience, with screen time of her yet an interesting storyline to capture their attention.

The style of an impressionist video is that it doesn't focus on small things in the video, it focuses on the atmosphere and the emotions and mood surrounding the subject.

In this particular video, it is very simple. When the artist is involved, it focuses only on them giving people the ability to focus on the artist instead of things happening around them. It then also switches to simple shots which are important but are minimal which again doesn't require the audience to look at too much so they don't get distracted easily. This is the type of technique that they have incorporated into the music video.

Why this is successful is that it gives the audience a freedom of not having too much to look at it. It leaves a good impression on them and on the artist of the song as the artist is the main subject and not anything else. It brings them to the audience's full attention and it's simply very minimalist.

Surrealist style is a dream like style. It features artificial and unreal elements within the video whether it's the characters`or the set around it which is artificial.

The techniques used in this video is that it is heavily edited, just by the look of it, to create a dream life, surreal effect for the audience to watch.

This, in turn with the music, is why the music video is so successful. The song is of a dream like state, very relaxed, very dreamy. The music video compliments that.

The audience are plunged into a video filled with colour, moving images and things that don't happen in real life. Even the band is artificial, giving off the look that it's a surrealist video. It has a very psychedelic vibe to it.

A parody music video is a music video that makes fun of existing music videos, films or people. The main intention of the parody style is to make fun of the original video.

The technique in this particular video is picking up the most popular media in that year and making a parody of it and not just in that year but in other years, for example, this parody music video is making fun of superheroes, particularly Robin from the Batman series. The video also features of parodies of Elvis and reality TV shows.

The music video is successful as it features popular culture that everyone is familiar with. It also has a humorous effect to it and can make people laugh which is how the audience can perceive it, as something comedic and entertaining.

Influence of commercial is a music video that has influences of advertisements in it. It can be classed as a music video for the advertisement and not just background music in the advert. They create the advert around the music video.

The advertising in this particular video is more than just one company. It features: a computer company called HP and it's advertising their laptop HP Envy, virgin mobile, a polaroid camera, and an American brand bread called Wonderbread.

The video doesn't feature only one advertisement as it has a number of advertisements in it. This means that the music video is not centred around a single advertisement but is in turn advertising many products. They can't involve products without at least asking permission from the company.

Why it's successful is that it is giving the companies recognition and the audience can look at the video and want to buy the products simply because they are used in the music video.
