Prejudiced:Throughout To Kill a Mockingbird, Scout witnesses many different types of prejudiced incidents—and even promotes these attitudes herself—including classism, sexism, and racism. The novel is careful to show that this is not the only kind of prejudice. For a white girl like Scout, this is not the most important issue in her life. What bothers her most is that she suffers from the sexism and classism that her aunt Alexandra often expresses. She holds her own sexual views. As Scout gradually comes to the conclusion that prejudice of any kind is ridiculous.

The theme of good versus evil is a prominent aspect of the novel, where Atticus Finch is driven by the unwavering belief that good will ultimately triumph over evil, despite most individuals possessing elements of both. However, throughout the novel, Atticus is confronted with moments where evil prevails, especially when it stems from ignorance, racism, fear, and hatred towards those who are different or have contrasting viewpoints. Scout, Jem, and Dill, who initially share Atticus' belief that humans are innately good, similarly encounter situations where justice and goodness are not always served. As they mature, their journey parallels that of Atticus', who comes to the realization that the legal system is unjust.
