The steps of doing a literature search on the above topic are:
  • write out the the main themes, phrases, key words
  • Copy these words or phrases on PsyhInfo, medline or Cinahl
  • use truncation such as using the star sign (*) before the end of your search word.
  • use the Boolean Operators tool such as "AND" "OR" to expand your search result and to lay more emphasis on your give task.
  • make your first search of these

First i identify the key words in the topic. With this topic the key words I will use are Mental illness and stigma. I will then look at words which mean the same as the key words. For mental illness i might use mental health problems as an alternative. 
I will then type the mental illness in in inverted commas as the first key word and then Stigma as my second key word.
I will then do the search. After the search, i will then look at minimising the number of my searches. conduct your search using the topic
boolean techniques meaning that when conducting the search, the keywords and the alternative is combined for example mental illness, or mental disorder or mental disability
also conduct another search using the and in between the keywords
finally using truncation technique meaning adding a * at the end of the key word and removing the last letter in the keyword for example nurse as a keyword would be nurs*
