My first thought in order to improve a technological constructivist approach that mirrors 21st century learning is that we need to train educators in an infused pedagogical design with TPCK and SAMR. When selecting technology, educators need to be up to date with what is available to promote transformational technology that offers collaboration, deep-diving and reinvention of expression and reflective learning. The influsion of the model should involve personalized learning opportunities, access and multi-modal expression in a UDL format. I discuss these models in my Cafe in week 4 if you want to know more.

If tech-mediated learning environments can become fostering matrices for constructivist pedagogy there is potential for tremendous synergy. Educational technology’s affordances can dramatically extend the range of learner's experience and become potentially transformative. However, if applied poorly they can become a distraction and hindrance. Our mission as educators is to awaken curiosity, raise awareness, and train a critical spirit. Tech as a tool is empowering, but the role of the teacher as guide, mentor, and facilitator will always be crucial.

For example, well-designed online learning environments closely resemble social media in their exponential linkages which provide opportunity for co-operation and collaboration. Content is widely distributed and educators can be learner peers, experts or even AI. However, learners can attend to only a certain amount of information meaningfully and it's the teacher's responsibility to restrict this information, to limit the attention of the learner to the problems at hand. This is an example of where scaffolding and other forms of discreet teacher intervention and support are necessary.

I think this concept is similar to Jennifer's but it, to me, is so important.
I think that is essential, that both student and more importantly teachers, are fully conversant with the technology platform(s) being used in constructivist learning program - so that the learning is in regard to the substantive knowledge, not trying to master the technology platform.

As an adjunct to that thought, perhaps one platform will be used for the technology underlying the classroom setting - to minimize the time and expertise needed to learn the technology versus the substantive knowledge.

I think these comments may come from my experiences - when I have to spend lots of times learning new technology, in particular in MET, in addition to learning the substantive material.

So let's have new tech - but much like the first step of constructivist learning - where is everyone's prior knowledge, let's get the level of each participant's prior knowledge with the technology program(s) being used and get that level up to a satisfactory level so that the student can focus on learning (not learning the tech).

Similar to Patricia and Gary, I find that technology has to be simplistic and easy to access in order to maximize participation time and concentration.
I believe that constructivism still remains relevant with either high-tech or low-tech classrooms and that the collaborative element of in person and online experiences can become more seamless and users continue to level-up their skills. However, I think there needs to be a greater investment country-wide in platforms which enable appropriate user experiences for varying age groups. Investment in public education should include the research and use of online platforms.
