With gathering ideas and inspiration, I started a Pinterest Board to collect imagery around King Arthur and Arthurian Legend. I found myself particularly drawn toward more elusive imagery, framing Arthur and his companions in a shroud of mystery, out of touch and separated from us.

-Can show explorations and other styles, but wouldn't have them front and centre or holding equal weight with main style

-Consistency in themes of website/socials

-Attention to detail with work (e.g. paint sides of a physical painting)(e.g. designing, pay attention to dimensions provided)

-Have a clear written artist statement. Make it easy to read, professional sounding, but don't need to overextend vocabulary

-Have a cohesive body of work

-Make sure work is cohesive, even if different mediums they should feel like the same artist

What other creatives/artists/film makers etc. have been concerned with  same subject?
The morals of the tale, historically Christian vs Pagan, but also Briton vs Saxon and by extension Celtic vs Germanic, also concerned with whether Arthur was real or not.

What has the creatives' viewpoint/approach been to the subject?
To tell legends, expanding on each iteration. That Arthur was real, regardless of a lack of evidence, simply because we want him to be real.

Is this an evergreen subject or only a contemporary phenomenon?
Arthurian legend dates back to as early as the 8/9th century, so there's a lot of work on the subject, some of the most popular writing being centuries old. Yet despite its old age it always seems to return to relevance.

During client feedback, I was advised to consider how I might propose this story to a publisher, rather than focusing immediately on self-publishing. I was advised against completing the comic, as publishers may like control over the content, and instead expanding my work around the concept of the story. Another client spoke with me about the choice of colour and the use of teal in the work. Overall it was very helpful and influenced the direction I took the work after the exhibition.

I decided to incorporate typographic elements, but created these by hand with a calligraphy pen, to give them an aged and worn look.

-Go bigger and rougher, keep up sketchbook work but don't be confined by it

-Big posters of characters and happenings

-Go rougher, rice paper, brush and ink

-Bigger doesn't mean more detailed, can be big strokes

-Still images to garner interest, like how media will have images they're known for/represent them, I.E Joker becoming Joker poster
