All applications for leave must be made by completing a Leave of Absence form at least 4 weeks in advance, explaining the circumstance surrounding the request. In making the decision about whether to authorise the leave, school will consider the circumstances of each application individually, including the student’s attendance record.

What an unforgettable week it has been for our Football Frenzy group!

The excitement kicked off on Monday with a  coaching session delivered by POSH, followed by a tour of the stadium and visit to the club shop. It was a brilliant opportunity for our young footballers to experience life behind the scenes at a professional football club.

On Tuesday, the adventure continued with a trip to London for a tour of the iconic Emirates Stadium, home of Arsenal FC. From the changing rooms to the players’ tunnel, the pupils loved exploring one of the country’s most famous football venues.

The action didn’t stop there! Wednesday and Thursday saw our pupils take part in two outstanding coaching days led by YDP. The sessions focused not only on developing football skills but also on building confidence, teamwork, decision-making and positive attitudes on and off the pitch. Each day finished with an exciting World Cup tournament, where everyone had the chance to put their new skills into practice in a fun and competitive environment.

To round off an incredible week, every student received their very own football to take home—a fantastic reward for their enthusiasm, effort and commitment throughout the week.

A huge thank you to POSH, YDP, and all the staff who helped make Football Frenzy such a memorable experience. We are incredibly proud of every pupil who took part and represented themselves so brilliantly. Here’s to more footballing adventures ahead! ⚽🏆

🎉 100% Attendance Awards 

Emma M and Oliver W each received £10 gift vouchers from the wheel of names for achieving 100% attendance across the entire academic year. An outstanding commitment — and a reminder of how much consistent attendance supports learning, confidence and progress. Massive well done to both of you.  

🏅 End‑of‑Year Awards 

Nominations and final votes were made during tutor time over the past two weeks, giving students the chance to recognise one another’s achievements, strengths and qualities. Students winning the final vote for their category each received a certificate and a bag of sweets. Awards included Most Improved Student, Ray of Sunshine Award, Creative Spark Award, Contribution to Sports Teams and Commitment to HC Community. A special addition was added to celebrate the huge number of positive points Joshua Milner has received this year. An outstanding student and a superb role model to others.  

We also celebrated the top 12 students in each year group who have achieved the most positive points this year. Each of these students are invited to attend a celebration after on Friday with students from each of the other houses. This again shows the consistent positive behave our students demonstrate.  

 A lovely way to end the year and celebrate the community spirit within Sirius. 

Sports Day was packed with energy, teamwork and high spirits. Sirius students stepped up to fill events, supported each other throughout the day and embraced the competitive fun element of the day.

Highlights for Sirius House this year included:

·        Winning the poster competition

·         Excelling in the baking challenge

·         Showing outstanding teamwork across all events

Several students have been nominated for Head’s Commendations for exceptional contribution to the house team.

A huge well done — and thank you — to everyone who went above and beyond.

Over the last 2 years we have been supporting  MerryLegs Charitable Trust raising much needed funds to support the care of rescued animals. This year we have raised over £700 for the charity along with huge donations of food, bedding and supplies to continue to feed and provide comfort to the rescued animals. We will be looking to assign a new charity to the house from September and welcome suggestions from you on our return.

👋 Farewells & Congratulations

We said a heartfelt thank you to Miss Wallis, who finishes her role as Head of House on Friday’s for Sirius House. She will become Head of Year 11 from September. We also congratulated Mrs Chegwidden, who has been promoted to Second in Sixth Form. Another tutor who will be greatly missed by our Sirius students.

A massive thank you extends to our tutor team and to Miss Evenett — your support, care and consistency this year have enabled our Sirius students to thrive at Hampton College promoting our high standards and supporting the achievements we make as a house..

🌞 Summer

We wish all Sirius students and families a safe, happy and restful summer break. Enjoy time with friends and family, recharge, and return refreshed. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in September.

As another school year comes to an end, it is the perfect opportunity to reflect on what has been another great year for Vega House. Our students have continued to demonstrate teamwork, kindness, resilience and house pride across every aspect of school life.

A particular highlight was Sports Day, where Vega House were crowned champions for the fourth consecutive year! This was an especially memorable occasion for our Year 10 students, as it marked their final Sports Day at Hampton College. An amazing achievement for them, having never lost a Sports Day during their time with us. The day was filled with outstanding teamwork, encouragement and determination, creating a fantastic atmosphere and showcasing the true spirit of Vega House.

Throughout the year, our students have also shown incredible generosity in supporting our house charity, Little Miracles. Thanks to the fantastic efforts of students running stalls selling candy floss, lollies, ice lollies, sunglasses and more, we have raised close to £600 for this wonderful cause. Thank you to everyone who supported these events.

Our final celebration assembly was a wonderful opportunity to recognise the many achievements of our students. We celebrated those reaching positive points milestones, from Form Tutor Awards through to Platinum Awards. A special congratulations goes to Mishal (V-BES), who was our highest positive points achiever this year - an outstanding accomplishment!

As a reward for their consistently excellent attitude and behaviour, our 50 highest positive points achievers were invited to a special rewards afternoon, where they enjoyed a well-deserved ice lolly together.

We also recognised students who achieved 100% attendance throughout the year which is an incredible level of commitment and dedication. Students who had been on our Team of the Week during the term were also celebrated, with everyone entered into a raffle. Congratulations to our four lucky winners, who each received an Amazon voucher, Costa voucher or a chocolate prize.

One of the most heart-warming parts of our celebration assembly was hearing tutors share their comments about two students from each form who deserved a special mention. It was wonderful to hear so many examples of kindness, resilience, hard work and personal growth.

A huge well done also goes to V-ALS, who were named our Form of the Year. This award was based on attendance, punctuality, positive and negative points, and participation in house competitions. Their consistency and commitment throughout the year made them worthy winners.

Finally, thank you to our fantastic House Council and School Council representatives, who have worked tirelessly throughout the year to make positive changes within our school community. They have some exciting ideas already planned for next year, with a focus on areas including mental health, charity work, environmental initiatives and anti-violence campaigns, and we look forward to seeing these projects develop.

Thank you to every member of Vega House for making this another year to remember. Your enthusiasm, positivity and willingness to support one another have made us incredibly proud. We wish everyone a safe, happy and well-deserved summer break, and we look forward to another successful year together in September.

In our final Celebration assembly, we highlighted various accomplishments. The 50 students who have received the most positive logs in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 are our Team of the Year. Bethany F in Year 7 received the most positive logs, followed by Mya S (Year 7) and Alison Z (Y9). In addition, the students with the most positive logs and the fifteen students who maintained 100% attendance had the chance of winning a £10 Amazon Voucher. Out lucky winners were Alex W (Y10) and Gustavo V D A (Y7). Congratulations boys! Very well deserved.

Sadly, we had to bid farewell to Miss Hill and Mrs Ballantyne who are moving on to new schools. They have been strong and supportive tutors in R-LOH and R-RMD and fully embraced the Rigel spirit. Joining the team are staff who all the students know – Mr Bird, Mr Mountain and Mrs Garratt. I am sure it won’t be long before their hearts turn green! Mrs Garratt will play a key leadership role, becoming Head of Rigel House on a Monday. She has already delivered a thoughtful assembly to our house on the topic of heroes and is tuned in to what gives Rigel its unique identity.

Finally, thank you to our wonderful tutor team and Ms Haslam, who ensure that we maintain high standards through consistency, communication and care. Thank you, Rigel families, for your unwavering support and friendship. And thank you, Rigel students, for making us proud and striving to be the best version of yourselves every day.

Mrs Baron, Mrs Garratt and Ms Haslam

This year was all about team spirit, and we found it everywhere — in our form tutors, our tutees, Mrs Hayden and every student who showed up ready to make Polaris shine. And shine we did.

Sports Day? We didn’t just attend — we took over. A full‑scale blue invasion swept across the field. Blue ribbons. Blue capes. Blue masks. Blue face paint. And party blowers that absolutely did not stop. Maybe they annoyed a few people… but did we care? Not even slightly. That constant soundtrack kept the Polaris vibes alive from morning to finish. And it paid off. Second place — our best finish ever. A huge well done to everyone, and thank you for bringing passion, pride, and pure chaos in the best possible way.

We kicked off the year with a flash‑mob conga line that… let’s be honest… didn’t quite hit the mark. But look at the glow‑up. By the end of the year, the Norwegian Row and the legendary Norwegian shout‑out were iconic. Assembly? Smashed it. Sports Day? Smashed it again. Polaris energy at its absolute peak.

We keep rolling, and next year we’re ready to welcome our new Year 7s and show them exactly what Polaris is all about — spirit, pride, teamwork, and a whole lot of blue.

Whatever you’re doing over the break, have an amazing time. Rest up, recharge, enjoy every moment, and come back ready to take next year by storm.
