I was twenty four years old when the war started, and I knew people that were sent overseas. It was a tough time for everyone. People were losing family members and friends. Didyou feel distanced from it or did you feel as it had a strong presence in your life?</p><p>- "There was a constant cloud over my head while the war was going on. I had friends and family that were overseas and I was constantly worried about them. With very limited communication from the soldiers overseas, it was easy to get anxious. Even though we were not close to Vietnam, war posters, rationing opportunities, and reminders were everywhere in the U.S."</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Where were you when the Tet Offensive happened? How did you feel about this?</p><p>- "I was in college during the TET offensive Air Force bombings. I felt very uncomfortable because this is when we could really see the brutality of the war. I remember seeing footage of an American soldier being shot and killed and it enraged me. I felt like I needed to act, but I felt powerless. Many people were shocked by the insane things that were going on overseas."</p>]]></description>

There were also plenty of war veterans that participated in anti-war rallies. After seeing the destruction in Vietnam, many veterans wanted to have their voices heard."</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>How did you feel about fighting against communism and the communists? Did you feel they were a big threat to the United States? What did the military say about them?</p><p>- "Personally, I do not think that communism was a threat to the United States. We had already dealt with the "threat" of communism before, and it was not successful. The U.S. citizens did not want a communist government, so the nation wanted to make sure that did not happen. Seeing all the lives lost and lives destroyed, I do not think it was necessary to go to war. The military, however, wanted to protect the U.S. from communists."</p>]]></description>

It is easy to push something to the back of your mind when you can't even see it. When the press coverage was released, people became more involved in anti-war rallies.
