         <description><![CDATA[<div>- Inherit 2 changed (mutated) genes<br>- One from each parent<br>- Parents are rarely affected as they only have 1 mutated gene<br>- Two carriers only have a 25% chance of having a completely unaffected child, a 50% chance of having an unaffected carrier child, and a 25% chance of having a fully affected child<br>- Cystic Fibrosis (CF)<br>- Mutation in the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator gene (CFTR)<br>- Type of gene mutation is related to how severe the case is<br>- Severe lung and digestive issues<br>- Affect cells that produce mucus, sweat, and digestive juices<br>- Turns these liquids from thin to thick and sticky<br>- Plug up passageways in the body<br>- Can be diagnosed within the first month of life<br>- Higher salt content in sweat<br>- Can lead to coughing, lung infections, and many other respiratory and digestive issues</div>]]></description>
