Increased migration has equally important social implications. On the other hand, cultural diversity brought caused by migration enhances society and encourages creativity and innovation. multiculturalism can improve social vitality and economic energy, as demonstrated by cities like New York, London, and Toronto. However, there may be difficulties in integrating migrants into their new communities. Social cohesiveness can be affected by problems like discrimination, cultural differences, and language obstacles, which can cause division and even war.

Rapid population growth brought on by migration can also put a burden on public services like housing, healthcare, and education. Local people may become resentful in some situations as a result, especially if they believe that resources are being extended. Therefore, active initiatives that support inclusion and attend to needs of both host communities and migrants are necessary for the successful integration of migrants into society.

Cummins, E.

Greater labour supply due to migration can complete the labour gaps in host countries and increase economic output. Skilled migrants can bring entrepreneurship and innovation. If the inflow is huge, this may also strain the local job markets, which in turn could mean low-skilled workers losing their jobs or having wage suppression. Regarding remittances, migrants often send money back home and help firm up the economies of those countries. But with the shifting global economy, this dependence on remittances also creates vulnerabilities. Besides, economic disparities have the potential to increase wealth and opportunity disparities among nations, adding to the pressure on migration. Economic destabilisation may occur in nations unable to manage influxes effectively.

Migration & Remittances Overview: Development news, research, data | World Bank

International Migration Outlook 2024 | OECD

Climate change and environmental issues are part of an environmental change, which can disrupt various aspects of real life. It has been a normal issue that is shown in the global forum that might make a big change in the world. These issue can change on the living habit of people. One of the examples is the rising sea level which cause migration of people. A big amount of people who migrate from coastal region causes other people in the coastal area to migrate and move away from the sea. These issues may also caused by the environmental hazards, social, and economical factors to allow or resist populations to migrate, and these factors were shown that there are reasons in resisting the migration of people that which their households were exposed to the sea-level rise.

Source :

Paz, C.
Impact of Migration on Economic Security (low-high income countries)

Amadea ajeng kayana naylafaizza

2802513432

The impact of increased migration on global stability is many, plus the effects that reduce the regional balance make for a complex impact. Although their reason is to seek higher incomes in other areas, this can create new problems such as social, religious, global security, economic, and other factors. One of them is that migration has an impact on low- and high-income countries in terms of economic and global security to protect the occurrence of hand-to-hand combat from the immigrants.

The impact on low-income countries affects the stability of the country leading to the loss of human resources and exacerbating existing socio-economic challenges that lead to a lack of political stability, as lower-income countries have difficulty paying migration costs due to the loss of resources. While for middle- and high-income countries, the influence of migration is accelerating on the positive side that can be more positive than the effect on low-income countries. Increasing the number of migrants in middle-to-high-income countries can actually increase economic stability by providing jobs and stimulating economic relations. Influence on high-income countries can increase military spending because of the perception of security threats that are linked to migration flows and can create tension and challenge existing governance structures.

While migration does not pose major challenges at the global level, it significantly affects political stability in certain countries, especially countries with low income levels.

https://www.imf.org/en/Blogs/Articles/2020/06/19/blog-weo-chapter4-migration-to-advanced-economies-can-raise-growth

https://www.ej-politics.org/index.php/politics/article/view/135

https://jurnal.unusultra.ac.id/index.php/jisdik/article/download/91/75/407

Increasing Migration in Political Stability and Governance

Name: Rachel Aurell Azella Sompotan

NIM: 2802569182

Higher migration rates can actually boost political stability, especially democratic ones. This is because emigration can alleviate social and economic pressures, reducing the risk of unrest. However, effective governance is key to harnessing these benefits. Democratic systems, with their emphasis on participation and accountability, can facilitate dialogue between origin and destination countries, involving civil society organizations to ensure a more balanced approach.

Migration is a powerful force shaping a country's image, economy, and security. Economic disparities and political instability often drive migration flows. Therefore, policy recommendations should promote open emigration policies, address the root causes of emigration, and recognize the potential benefits, especially for developing countries. While migration doesn't pose a major global security threat, it's important to acknowledge that country-specific factors like income and economic capacity play a significant role in maintaining political stability.

Sources:

Sabriu Bexheti, M. From the perspective of migrants, it opens income, career and individual freedom opportunities that one might not have at home. Nonetheless, migration also triggers concerns, public anxiety and political disputes about its sustainability and potential disruptive potential in both host and sending societies.

The increasing significance of migration has many potential implications, including:

Economic growth

Migration can contribute to economic growth in destination countries by increasing the labor force, human capital, and entrepreneurship. In the UK, migration contributed to a 16.6 percentage-point increase in GDP between 1990 and 2016.

Forced displacement

Deforestation, land degradation, desertification, and biodiversity loss can drive migration.

Social security

Countries with aging populations can improve the solvency of their social security programs by accepting more immigrants.

Brain drian

Emigratio of skilled workers can affect the delivery of health and education services in small economies.

The global stock of international migrants is almost twice as high as it was in 1990.
