Useful tips.

· Films are made in teams. If the team are not working well together, the film will not be as good. 

·  Have a kind of way to communicate with one another.

·  The camera does not work like the human eye and cannot focus on the darker colours if the light is behind it.

 

DO’s. 

1. Keep the film in duration

2. Make it obvious of what the plot is/who the characters are meant to be/represent. 

3. Dress code is very important. It represents the character and who they are and what their role is. 

4.  You can use props and the setting to indicate the character’s behaviour. (eg. A teenager could have a messy bedroom or a little girl could be holding a pony plush.)

5.  Always use the tripod. For first person point of view, it is acceptable to take the camera off the tripod.

6.  Music and sound effects need to go together. 

7.  Use music as it is a way to signify genre. It also lets the audience know how to react. 

8.  Try to use dynamic shot types. A range of different shot types makes the movie more interesting as filming in the same angle can bore the audience quickly. 

9.  Make sure that more than one person is in the film. A range of characters can make the movie more exciting and enjoyable.

10. Make sure to have a great ending as the ending is just as important as the beginning. 

11. Keep the camera at eye level.

12. Have a good pacing of clips.

13.  Make your own sound affects as they are simple to create

14. To plan, bullet points and story boards are really important. Planning is the important aspect of creating film

15.  Control the location. Control the mizzen scene

16. Reshooting is very important. Film everything three times (at least) 

17.  Always show the face of the actor to show emotion and reaction shots. 

DON’TS

1.    Never look into the camera; it breaks the illusion. 

2.    Don’t shoot into the light, shoot in behind it.

3.    Don’t need to shoot the movie in order that the audience will see it. 

4.    Don’t get too excited about too excited the content of the movie, get excited about how it’s filmed. 

5.    Don’t make the plot of the film to complicated. 

6.    don’t go over or under the time limit given (if any)

7.    Don’t be loud whilst filming. The camera tends to pick up small noises (such as footsteps and heavy breathing.) which could ruin the illusion.

8.    Don’t use any of the natural sound if it is too loud or irrelevant to the movie

 

Reflection on my work.

I have made a 1 minute movie with my team. I believe that we came together well and we worked efficiently together. One thing that I liked about our movie ‘Into The Shadows’ is that we came together to plan the plotline and we all had a say in how the movie should be produced. it included a plot twist which lead the audience in suspense. Also, we got every person of the team a role so it wasn’t just one character. However, one thing that I wish we could of changed is that the camera kept wobbling which meant that the screen was not rock solid and it was a little hard to understand what was going on. Also, one of our cast member looked into the camera which broke the illusion of film.
