When they arrived at Don Feli's store, the nicest man in his neighborhood saw that they could only buy one  soda, he told them that if they helped him pack his sodas in the freezer, he was going to give a free soda, and they agreed and they were helping.  When they were about to finish, they heard some gangsters entering Don Feli's store and they attacked him. Pulga and Chico went to see Don Feli but he was already about to die Pulga and Chico ran away because " It’s the way you learn to live around here."

Puerto barrio is a place without color and with a lot of violence. Pequena is a 17-year-old girl who is already pregnant but she doesn't want to have her baby because she thinks the  baby is one of her problems that ruined her life.  Chico is a big boy who seems like he can take down whoever he wants but his heart is very sensitive and he is childish his insecurities are bigger and stronger than him. The three are siblings but do not by blood they live together and they live a life with violence and trauma.

When they arrive at an abandoned building, Rey was waiting for them and told them that they had to join his game but first he had to prove his fidelity by telling Chico and Pulga to fight at first Chico didn't want to but he was forced to hit Puga and then Rey let them  join his game. Then Pequeña  told her mother that she was going to go buy food from the grocery store but in reality she went to buy some pills to not get pregnant and something so that her milk dries up but Pequena plans something else and he start to save money.

When they arrived they asked for the money and they gave it to them but they were almost killed because Pulga and Chico seemed very weak but something stopped them, the boys realized that Pulga and Chico worked for Rey and Rey was becoming very feared so they let them go. Rey took Pequeña to Honduras to propose to her. He took her to a beach where he made a Pequeña walk, even though she had given birth a few days ago. Rey stopped and took out a  ring with a big diamond and put it on her finger and told her   "this is ring your destiny". She couldn't say no for fear that Rey would do something bad to her or kill her because Rey has no compassion for anyone.

Pulga said good night to his mother for the last time and without saying anything else, he went to his room. Pulga didn't told his mom that they were going to the United States because he knows that she would not let them go. The three of them began to pack their backpacks they  took clothes, food, and other necessary things to survive. Pulga took a photo of his parents, a cassette tape with his dads voice, a Walkman, extra clothes, a toothbrush, water, bread, candy. Pulga had to take all those things because they are important and he will need them to be able to get to the States. At the bus station waiting for the bus to take them in Guatemala City  Pulga noticed that Pequeña  changed her identity because being a woman in those kinds of situations is very dangerous. She cut her hair and used a lot of clothes to appear to be a man.

They had to take a bus that would take them to Tecú Umán after an hour of waiting, they managed to take the bus when they arrived at Tecú Umán Pulga told Chico and Pequena that they had to get to the Suchiate River when they got to the river they had to Planks of wood attached to huge black tires were taken and transported to the other side of the river. They will continue on their way but they got lost, they did not know where to go so they had no other option than to stay and sleep in a cemetery

Then he welcomed them and she told them they had three days to stay there and then they had to go then Merlina began to ask them where they were from where they were going and why they began to answer and when Merlina asked them why they wanted to go to the The United States responded one by one and the three were surprised that they were escaping from the same person, they never said to each other why they decided to escape from Puerto Barrios, they only decided to get out of there because of the things that were happening to them and the risk they were taking there.

Pulga noticed a mural with the Virgin Mary the people began to pray and in front of the mural Pequena and Chico also stared praying Pulga wasn't suree if god is going to hear him but he stared praying and telling to save and protect them on the way. The days passed and it was time to leave the shelter and continue on the road when they were ready to leave the father of a girl had a heart attack the girl began to beg people to help her but no one wanted to help her, not even a Pulga, Chico or pequena because they going to have more responsibilities and it was too much for them even if they wanted to help her, they couldn't  and the only thing they could do was ignore her/turn their backs and leave.

And then they realize that they ran over a man he was trying to get on the mimi bus because it was night and the driver didn't saw him.

The terror on Chico's face as he run realizes he's falling behind. Pulga screams at Chico and Pequana. Chico grabs on, and he is being dragged, his feet coming so close to those wheels. Chico finally manages to get one foot on the lowest bar, and he pulls himself up, climbs to the top like Pulga. And then they see how the train goes faster and they see the people who couldn't get on anymore.
