The population of African penguins has decreased by 95% since 2005. This is happening because of the overfishing of their food. Also, they are hunted by animals.

We need African Penguins to keep the ecosystem healthy they eat animals like anchovies and sardines and are eaten by predatory animals. So to keep the ecosystem from collapsing. These penguins also transfer important nutrients terrestrial to marine life

The Problem

The reason African penguins are going extinct is that animals like mongooses, sharks, seals, domestic cats, and dogs eat their chicks and eggs. They are also getting climate change and pollution and over-fishing is another reason. That is the whole reason the penguins are going extinct is because they can't eat.
