         <description><![CDATA[<div>Teachers were given more freedom in the 1990s to choose their own lesson plans and classroom management strategies. Standards were originally adopted in the 1990s, and as a result, teachers across the state were held to a uniform level. The 1990s saw a significant increase in expectations on teachers relative to earlier decades because of the implementation of standards and student autonomy in decision-making in the classroom. In the 1990s, the AIMS test was introduced, which meant that teachers were now in charge of teaching material that would assist students pass the new test in addition to their own lessons.<br><br></div>]]></description>
