I am a former slave from and my family of four would like help. We have been enslaved for the last fifteen years, and because of the thirteenth amendment, we can be free. We would just like a shot at life while we still have ours. We have children that now get to live freely, and all we want is to have our children to enjoy life. This was included to show the troubles of what both freed slaves, and poor whites went through. This is a critical piece of information that all should understand when getting into the topic of Freedmen's Bureau. Finally, I believe this should be included because without knowing this you cannot see how the Radical Republicans worked.

It meant that the North had to send military down throughout the South to enforce the laws. The Southerners were infuriated, because with the military in their way of taking things backs to how they use to be. Hiram Rhodes Revels was able to become senate because of the 15th amendment, and this was one few who took full advantage of their new rights. They use to be slaves, now they're running for senate. The 13th amendment abolished slavery, which in my case was huge considering what they were doing before having freedom. Also, we had now made the African Americans actually African "Americans." After years of Northerners paying for this Reconstruction, they're done. This end was also due to the terrorist actions that were done to African Americans down South. As was thought, Southerners have not allowed political rights to African Americans.
