Inheritance is when the role of the leader is passed down by generation. In order to vote you must be 17 years of age in North Korea. Leaders are elected by direct universal suffrage and secret ballot , every citizen over 17 is guaranteed suffrage. Some rules were state  - sanctioned haircuts and the government deciding who gets to live in the capital. The death penalty is in effect in North Korea and many crimes may get the death penalty. The previous leader was his father Kim Jong-il he was the leader from 1994 to 2011 when he died. Before him it was his father which is referred to as the Kim Dynasty. The Kim Dynasty is a 3 generation bloodline of rulers for North Korea which started in 1948.
