Pick out the issues and opportunities raised in the materials that you have read.

Trends, issues and opportunities that resonated with what you have observed in your students:

Article 1:
65% of kids in preschools will work in jobs or careers that do not yet exist. Knowledge is fast changing: new- appearing, old - out of date/ obsolete.

Key statistics: 65% observation

Half knowledge in degree programme will become obsolete by graduation

Any typical products will become obsolete within 3-5 years of release

Students need to be equipped with the relevant skills/ knowledge needed for jobs in the future. Teachers need to keep abreast with new development

Article 2:
In order to remain relevant and current, only continual learning can help our students. It is no longer how our education can prepare our students for the job market but also how to retrain and upgrade the adult learners to meet the needs of evolving sectors.

There is also no pre-defined pathway to success now. What matters how is more many students can get the appropriate certifications and modules or micro-credentials throughout their lives. Hence it is the skills to “learn, learn fast, unlearn and relearn”.

Article 3:
Students not having access to working laptops to complete their work.

Saw this as an opportunity to help out these groups of individuals. Faced challenges and continued to persevere on due to the impact that he sees through his action.

“It's an extremely tiny sacrifice taken by me. If I spend just an hour fixing a computer, that computer may help improve the life of an individual or family for potentially years. '' This quote states clearly how much Darin feels for the community. He wants to play a part to improve the lives of people. His action will really help those in need. Many of our students in our school do not have computers at home or say that the computers are spoiled. They need to put in effort to source for a solution to this problem.

Article 4:

- Some students need time to discover what they enjoy (need to time to try it out)
- Emergence of digital economy (traditional brick & mortar activities transformed by internet etc) mirrors the increasing use of social media and other uses of online media
- students need soft skills in the workforce (do they have?)
- Need to increase relevance of higher education to working life (much needed)
- Need industry specific knowledge & life skills not just academic knowledge

Impact on students and their development:

What students need to learn and what support do they need:

Article 2:
Whatever students are learning at their current point may no longer be relevant when they graduate. Therefore students must constantly look out for opportunities to update their knowledge and skills. Students’ mindset must also change, noting that they must take responsibility for growing their own skills and expanding their knowledge, even if their employees do not actively pursue training for them.

-Students need to take responsibility of their own learning, constantly looking for ways to expand their knowledge and skills to remain relevant.
-Students will need to be adaptable.
-Students will need to have access to quality internships and connection between academia and industry must be tightened.
-Students should be given opportunities to intern with the industry without being constrained by time and subject of study.
- Students should be able to complete programmes at their own time, if they have the desire and opportunity to intersperse their internship and studies
-Students should be given the opportunities to learn by working with real-life tools to solve real-life industry problems
-Universities must create more opportunities for faculty to keep pace with the latest industry innovations and create free-flowing exchanges of ideas and personnel between industry and unitversities

Article 3:
Students need to understand that challenges can be overcomed if they continue to persevere on and have a purpose in the things that they are doing. They also need to understand that the small little things that they do might have a great impact on someone's life.

“It's quite hard to not be motivated when you can make such a difference with a relatively small amount of effort,”

" Learn to both enjoy the task you are doing as well as the meaning behind it.
