I am interested in learning more about heiau because these sites were important in early Hawaiian culture. Mo`okini Heiau is located on our island along the Kohala coast. I wonder how heiau are made because there are large heiau that we are still standing today. Respecting the culture and beliefs of the early Hawaiians will sustain the history of our people.

I am interested in learning about native birds to Hawaii and how the help them not go extinct.

I chose Lo’i because it’s related to growing which I find interesting. I find it interesting how early Hawaiians made the Lo’i and how they worked to make them. It’s cool how one of the most common plants in early Hawaii has scutch a sophisticated process of growing. I have also learned already that their is not much information on it.

These Ohi’a not only provide many species with food and shelter, they also provide us with beautiful flowers and stories and culture. These ohi’a aren’t just trees, they are family and homes. These Ohia are helping us but now they are endangered. They are at risk of extinction. These Ohia helped us, now it’s are turn to help them.

My teaching tool is going 👍🏻 great. I have finished painting, drawing, taping, decorating, painting pigs, and making and hanging birds. I need to make people,Kalo, and the imu, or oven. I hope to get to my clay tablet started by Saturday or Sunday. This shouldn’t take so long since this is air dry clay, and I can whip up a good picture in no time that is very quality.

Teaching Tool

For my teaching tool I decided to do a question and answer memory game. How it works is it’s a normal memory game except you have to Mach questions with answers. But there is a twist, if you get a wildcard you get a hint on the answer to the question. (Questions and answers are separated and wildcards will be in answers)

So far I haven’t started on my teaching tool but have a plan to spread out my work through the 8 days.
I will need index cards (I have all the other materials)
