I’m doing Animal Care!

After being bitten yesterday by a scared dog, today I didn’t feel as confident spending time with the dogs, put they were so eager for love and rubs, I couldn’t resist. It’s been interesting navigating the different personalities of each dog and overall rewarding work :)

In the evening we went to battlemaxx which was fun :)

In the evening we all went out for dinner in St. Julians. It was delicious!

We also had Naomi visit us today and it was fun showing her around!! 🐾

We walked around Valletta.

We had lunch in a cute cafe called Carolina’s.

Then we explored around where we are staying and found some beautiful architecture.

I learnt a lot about Maltas history which was super interesting.

After we went to the roof top and had a drink🍹

We were shown around and I was assigned the classroom with the youngest kids, they age from 4 months to 14 months.

I was working from 8:30 till 4:30

That evening we went to St. Julian’s for dinner with everyone 🍕

Later on we went to St. Julian’s and had a fun night 🪩

This was super fun!

After all of the outdoor kennels were clean, and the dogs were fed, I spent some time socialising the small dogs- there was a new dog that arrived today that was so skinny and hungry. It was very sad.

I was soon cheered up again after hugs from the much loved Kevin🐕

Went to the cat village after in search for Shadow again, and I thought to myself, where oh where is he!?🤔✍️...shortly found him sprawled out on a boat :)

In the evening we went out for dinner at an Indian restaurant that Jen recommended and it was so worth it- I was so stuffed!

Bed early for Gozo in the morning🏖️

The first port of call was Victoria, where myself, Niamh, Rachael, and Tetyana got some brunch. We got to walk around for a bit and see the St. George's Cathedral where miracles are said to happen!

Then we went on a scenic walk to Mixta Cave where we got to see beautiful views overlooking Ramla Bay. My favourite part of the day was the spontaneous hike that some of us went on while we were looking for a beach. According to google maps, we were "off grid", so we made our way back in not so good footwear on rough terrain but it was mostly laughable, with some lovely views overlooking Xlendi Bay. This was followed by a brief dip in the sea.

The time came to say goodbye to Gozo, and we departed on the ferry.

The evening was spent relaxing with a drink in hand🍺

We went down to Sliema bay before work and the weather was lovely. I was taught how to use some of the machines in work. The Irish football match was on so we went to the pub to watch it.

Did some cupping techniques on one of the interns to properly learn how to use them. Watched a number of patient assessments and helped out with Tecar therapy machine

Today we had Battlemax and it was one of my favourite activities so far. I loved that we were split up into two teams and there was a lot of competitiveness. Sadly my team lost but I still thoroughly enjoyed it

Today Victoria and I woke up nice and early to head to the dance studio in Mosta so Victoria could practice her Irish dancing. I decided to stretch for the hour which was very beneficial. Afterwards we slept for a bit then we went for dinner with Naomi. The food was very nice.

We assisted with a lot of patients and helped the interns. It’s good to see how the interns interact with their clients and how the assessments are carried out. I’ve learned a lot about how empathetic and patient they are towards the clients and they try their best to help injuries with the use of the machines and rehab plans in the gym.

On our break we went out for coffee with all the interns and looked at the sea in Sliema bay. It’s really nice being in an international environment with students from all over the world working in the unit. I’ve learnt a lot about different peoples home countries and we’ve been sharing ours as well. Victoria taught everyone Irish dancing and we’ve taught everyone some Irish words. We even got some people to try pronounce Irish name and it was very funny😭. Helped with some of the machines and shadowed the interns with clients.

Day off today! We went to Golden Bay beach and the views were spectacular. However, we got rained on but it was still enjoyable. We went home for a bit and made lunch. In the afternoon we went for happy hour cocktails and dinner in Sliema.

Gozo Trip ! We got up nice and early to head to the port to depart on the ferry to Gozo. I loved the sea view from the ferry. Victoria and I got a 6 euro breakfast which was so yummy. We visited a church, salt pans and a cave. I loved going to multiple locations and seeing new things. We went on a walk, chilled in the sun and got some ice cream. We got the ferry back then got dropped home.

Today was Easter Sunday and we went to Golden Bay beach. The weather was very nice, it was so hot my haribos melted. We chilled in the sun, got some food and walked around. I got stuck in a fridge.

This morning we went into Sliema early before work to sit in the sun at Sliema bay. It was a quiet day in work today but one of the interns wanted to practice how to use the machines so we were her test subjects. We watched in on some clients today as well. We also sat in the staff room and got some of our assignments done. After work, Victoria and I went to a jewellery store and a shopping centre to look for a few bits. We tried Cinnabons for the first time and they were lovely.

This morning we went to the dance studio for the last time and afterwards we got coffee and a bit of lunch. We played some arcade games where we won two teddies. Work was busy today and consisted of shadowing the interns doing treatments and rehabilitation plans. Afterwards we got the ferry over to Valleta where we did some souvenir shopping and got dinner and cocktails.

Later on that night we headed to Saint Julian’s and went to an Irish pub.

I was in a childcare centre called san Luigi, I was placed with the older kids (age 2-3). Our working days are 8:30-16:30

Later in the evening we went for dinner with Ross at salumeria gardens, it was very nice.

We tried ice cream from sottozero. I got kinder cereal with vanilla, and later on I tried strawberries and bananas with pistachio sauce, and Oreo bits. I don’t recommend…

It was such a beautiful day, we visited the church of miracles. And around the capital city of Gozo called Victoria.

We visited a cave that overlooked a blue beach, then we headed to another beach close by and got some food and ice cream.

In the evening we went to dinner and a magic show. Really enjoyed the free flowing wine!

It's so sad to leave them all. I'll miss Pedro a lot!

After all of the chores were done, the puppy fell asleep in my arms and I didn't want to leave🥺

We got to name the puppy and we chose Orla ☘️

We visited Mdina it was amazing!

There was a national museum of natural history which was only €3.50.

This was good.

Today we were in work early and then on our break we sat in the sun which was lovely. Afterwards, we went to dinner and a magic show which was fascinating.

We then took a drive to see the Salt Pans 🌊

I tried some traditional fish cakes which were delicious and we finished the day off with some ice cream 🍦☀️

We went to the beach to get the last bit of nice weather before heading home. In the evening we all met up for one more dinner in a very nice roof top restaurant. Had some ice-cream after 🍦

I’m very sad to be leaving but I did miss home a little.

My experience in Malta was so amazing, I grew so much as a person and challenged myself in so many different ways!

This was such a good experience and id recommend everyone to do it 😊

We strolled around the streets and shops and even visited the National History Museum 🦋

We learned that some scenes of Game of Thrones were filmed in Mdina

The magic show and dinner was great fun! 🍝🪄

It was sad saying goodbye to all the dogs as we had grown so close to them even in a short amount of time. Malcom here was one I had a soft spot for and I wish I could have taken him home with me 🥺

We got to name the puppy and decided to go with an Irish name, Orla ☘️

Overall I loved my time working at AAA and I will miss it !

The next day we packed everything up and said our goodbyes to Malta. I’ve truly had an incredible time, made some amazing friends and would definitely love to come back to Malta in the future 😊
