Impromptu #3: Is humanity headed in the right of wrong direction?

This is the first time that I was called for an impromptu speech in public speaking. And honestly, it was nerve-wracking since we are only given a few minutes to prepare for our speeches. My palms were sweating and my feet were really cold. When it was my turn to give my opinion to the given question, I was panicking, can't keep my focus, and also kept on forgetting the things that I must say that resulted in a lot of "uhh" and "umm" fillers. It was also time pressure because we need to deliver our thoughts within two minutes.

At the end of my speech, I didn't know if I was able to deliver my thoughts and opinion properly. All I know is that I need to do better next time, and I will be better next time.

Impromptu #1: What human quality do we need more and why?

This was the first impromptu that was given to us by Miss Cris, though I didn't get called during this task, I was still able to reflect and think '"what is the human quality that we need more?"

My answer would be being thankful and contented. Why? People should be thankful in life. Praising and giving thanks for the things that are and for the things that aren’t. For the things you already have, for the life, you are now living and for the many blessings life sent and will continue to send your way. Being satisfied with what you have, whatever that is, instead of wishing for more than what you have, which you don't need because if we won't be contented and will keep on wanting more, thinking that those things are relevant or means somethings to us.

Impromptu #2: Real learning doesn't occur in a classroom.

In my opinion, we do learn in classrooms but it's more focused on learning academically. Things and lessons that need to be taught by teachers and instructors for us to fully grasp and understand. But in terms of learning in life, it's a different thing. Often, we learn by our own experiences in life, which is also known as Experiential Learning. How we survive our everyday lives, how we solve our problems. And these things sometimes can't be taught in a classroom setting, people can't learn these things just by basing on books, researches, and others or by basing on someone else's story, but by experiencing it first-hand.

Gettysburg Address Refletion

Fourth, I was the fourth student to present my Gettysburg Address yesterday. I t was really nerve-wracking from the randomizing of our order in presenting, to the moment I am currently presenting my speech in front of the class.

During my presentation of the speech, there were parts that I did confidently said while there are also some parts where I had forgotten some of the next lines of the speech. I don't why I had forgotten those parts because nights before that, I had memorized each part slowly and making sure that I am not forgetting anything. Maybe it was because of nervousness, and pressuring myself that it should be perfect? Whatever the reason is, I still think that I did my best even though I did some mistakes. In the end, I realized that I needed more practice, and that speech was just a part of progress in order to become a good speaker someday because practice makes perfect.

Impromptu #4: If you died today, what regrets would you have about your life?

When Miss Cris asked this question, I got lost in my own thoughts thinking about the regretting things that I've done in my entire life. A lot of things came into my mind like "what if I did this instead of doing that?".

If I died today, though it's too late to regret things and opportunities that I let slip away or things that I didn't choose because of circumstances. The thing that I think I would regret the most if I died today, is not being successful before dying. Why? I am not born in a wealthy family and being the eldest child, I've always dreamt of being successful one day so my mom and my siblings don't need to worry about the rent, bills, tuition, and allowance. Someday, I want to be the person they can count on to provide for their needs and wants. So if I were to die or died today, it's really regretting not being able to do that for them, especially that my siblings are still young and my mom is not getting younger anymore.

EULOGY SPEECH

While I was writing my eulogy speech, honestly it was hard because it was only based on my imagination. I had to think about the feelings that a person delivering a speech like that would feel, what if I am in their shoes, what would I feel? What would I say? It took me a lot of time in order for me to gather my thoughts and finish the speech on time.

Though the person that was dedicating my eulogy speech to is not real and is only a part of my imagination. I did feel sad as if I'm really mourning for someone who's important to me. My voice was shaking, I got teary-eyed, and I cried while I was delivering my speech, though I didn't plan to cry and act like that in the first place because the person I'm referring to in that speech was not real. Maybe I got carried away by feelings, and while delivering the speech it felt like I really did experience what I wrote.

Althroughout this activity, I felt sad when my classmates shared their experiences and stories. Their feelings struck me hard and got me carried away a little too much. Though most of their eulogy are for their loved ones who passed away for quite some time now, I can still feel the pain, the sadness still lingers while they were sharing their speeches.

THE MISTAKE OF TRUSTING THE WRONG PEOPLE [Finals Speech]

When we are tasked to do make a speech for our finals, where we can choose whatever topic we want to share with our audiences, I had a hard time thinking and picking the right topic. A topic which I really know had experience on, and what I think my audiences will like. Tons of topics came into my mind but I just can't seem to pick the proper one. But one day while I was in the middle of taking a shower, I suddenly thought of something that happened to me in the past. Of course, I also thought that it was ridiculous but then I stared blankly in the air, organizing my thoughts if I should push it through or not if I am ready to share it or not. The night came, I can't sleep and suddenly thought of the topic again but on the next day, that's when I realized that I should do it, and even said to myself "Wish me luck. I hope I can deliver this speech well." I wrote what's on my thoughts for days, and the day before our speech, that's when I completed my whole speech.

My topic was about the mistake of trusting the wrong people, MY mistake of trusting the wrong people. Its content is a story of the two people that I met, I trusted, and who had done something to make me lose my trust in them. When I practiced my speech, I was doing good and I delivered it very well but when I was in front of them, presenting it, I got teary-eyed and then I cried in front of them. I don't know why, but maybe because of the pressure that all of my classmates, including my teacher, are looking at me during that time? Or maybe because I got carried away while I was telling my story to them? I don't really know exactly why but all I know is that it was embarrassing. But at the same time, I felt proud of myself that I had the courage to share things like that with other people, and hoping that they learned a lesson based on my experiences.

After all of my classmates had done our speeches, I felt happy for everyone because I know we all did our best during this block term in public speaking. Hoping for the best for all, I know we still improve, and someday, we will be good speakers with our own styles of delivering it and ways of how to approach our audiences with confidence.
