Before European colonisation, the rock was known as Ngannelong, and was used for ceremonies, meditations and initiations for 26 thousand to 40 thousand years.

Other works by Joan Lindsay: Her genres included satire, autobiographies and gothic novels. Her first release was a satire titled 'Through Darkest Pondelayo', and her second novel was a semi-autobiographical titled 'Time Without Clocks'
