This is seen from how Elizabeth immediately thinks of Walter as a burden and "how tiresome he would be to nurse", as well as how she can manage on the little pension and what she could earn" when she imagines the possibility of him being dead. One would typically grieve over the loss of a loved one and feel a great sense of loss. Yet, the fact that Elizabeth can easily gloss over his death and focus on pragmatic concerns highlights how she does not truly care about her husband. If she truly despises him, she would not even consider his well-being and whereabouts. Hence, it is clear that Elizabeth does love her husband more than she resents him.
