Something that inspired me to do this art piece is the Quote saying "Things are not always what they seem; the first appearance deceives many". One reason why I wanted to do this is because everyone is beautiful somewhere in life. One color that I really wanted to include in this photo is Green because it is part of earth. Another inspiration for this art piece is the Demogorgon from Stranger things. This Demogorgon was the inspiration for the word/arms coming out from her head. In conclusion I really liked how this turned out and the overall appearance.

The art piece that I created is supposed to represent emotions. It shows how people have so many emotions and are very unique. Every part of your body has emotions. Whether you’re happy, sad, afraid, mad, shocked, or disgusted, emotions are always part of us. It shows that no matter what, we all have emotions, no matter the circumstances. The collage shows the happiness, fear, anger, shock, sadness, and disgust in us all, and how our life is surrounded by emotions. We are all our own version of the Inside Out movie.

This project was inspired by the idea of balance in nature. I find it fascinating that everything in nature is balanced in such a way that although we may want more or less of something, life turns out best when we have a bit of everything. In my project, I showed a few examples of the balances in life. In the top left corner, we see the sun, and opposite of it is the moon. Though the sun and moon seem like polar opposites, we need both day and night in order to survive. With only the sun, the earth would overheat, and with only the moon, it would be very cold. Similarly, we have fire and water facing each other. Not only do they represent the elements, but personality as well. The fire shows the more energetic and outgoing side of the person, while the water also shows that the person also has a reserved and calm personality. To further emphasize this, I included a Greek drama mask. Half of the face is smiling, while the other is frowning. If you never experience sadness, you will never truly appreciate happiness. If you always experience happiness, you will never learn from your mistakes and be prepared for a bad situation. In the bottom left corner, there are fresh snapdragon flowers. Parallel to it is the same flower, but dead. Again, the same theme reoccurs. People may wish for immortality, but if there was no death, life would not have much meaning. Lastly, there are white stars in the shadowed part of the picture, while there are black stars in the brighter section of the picture. These stars represent how there is light in darkness, and darkness in light, similar to the symbol of yin yang. You can interpret this photo any way you would like, but this is the message I wanted to convey while creating this.

Artist Statement: I didn't know at first what this project was going to be about. I actually had some inspiration from mosaics, with the uneven and alternating pattern of bits and pieces. This project reflects some part of my creativity that I don't really know yet. Getting to express myself in this pieced together way that depicts different sides of me was really a fun process. Something that inspired me is how everyone has a different side to themselves. They can show a different part of them to someone but be a complete different person on the inside. What inspired me to create this picture was looking at Basquiat's pictures and looking at my surroundings. Basquiat was very creative with his work and I wanted to capture his style in this picture. When I first though of how to portray myself I was having some trouble. I thought a lot about my hobbies and what I liked doing. I eventually decided to portray myself doing the thing I spend the most time doing, baseball. I wanted to show what was required of me and others playing the game of baseball. Orange or the bat for offence, blue or the glove for defense, and green for throwing or the baseball because I am told throwing is semi offensive itself. The photos going from big to small represent the amount of pressure I feel when doing them, bigger being more pressure.

When planning this photo, I decided to highlight the loss of innocence as we grow and experience the depths of the real world. The subject's guardian angel represents the innocence of the subject, slowly being carried away by the forces of immorality now being opened up to the subject. While most of the elements present in the picture depict the loss of innocence as a negative concept, the two different heartbeats on either side of the chain showcase the start of a new life. One that is open to the truth of the real world, and not shielded by the angel anymore. However, the angel's glowing hand on the other side of the change represents the happiness and true joy one can experience in the world, amongst the cruelty present. Overall, this image shows the power of innocence and losing it, and how it affects our view of the world, along with the impact the world has on us.

When I started the Basquiat project I wanted to show the different sides of a person and how one's emotions or thoughts about themselves or others. With the star at the top corner, I wanted to show someone can see certain things because one's world can be very colorful or one's world can be seen as dull, this is also what I wanted to achieve with the small red dot in the left eye. With The bigger eye and nose, I wanted to show someone's thoughts on some characteristics they might have and how they could notice it often as a big characteristic that is bad about the sleeves but that others might not see as such a big thing as the person does. I had also wanted to achieve something similar to the small bits on the face It is a characteristic that the person sees as this big thing as well, I had wanted to show how it could be hard to see who they are because they may have different personalities around other people, photos of them that look as if it there characteristics about themselves are different and could make it hard for one to see who they are. Then with a few things in the background, I wanted to show how someone spends their time and how it defines who they are such as who they are friends with, hobbies, and who they like or anything else they may like.

My piece of art features Franchesca Apollo as the focal point. I tried to capture a view of my muses personality by incorporating colors, wallpapers, and motifs, that reminded me of her. My work was based around the bold, abstract, graffiti-esque style of Basquiat and his self portraits. One thing I used from Basquiat's self portraits was his creative backgrounds that incorporated a frenetic sense of movement. I also used the idea of making up someone's face with more than one photo to create an abstract feel. In this case I added a larger, off-putting eye that contrasted the rest of the face as it was black-and-white and also abnormally placed.

The thing that inspired me was emotions. Every color is a different emotion, red is anger, green is disgust, blue is sadness, purple is fear, and yellow is happy. we all have these emotions, sometimes one shows more than the other. One thing you can notice is that there are darker emotions than brighter emotions. When you are happy, you try to find out what is wrong with it. You can also notice that sadness is shown in the head, Anger is shown in the face, or actions. disgust is in one ear, fear is in the other, and happiness is in the chest or hear. When I first started the Basquiat Project, I decided I wanted to do a project about emotions. All the different colors represent all the different emotions in ones head as the different colored slices are only on the head. The mixture of the colors is to show how much feelings you could be feeling at once. The mixture of colors also show all the colors combined, which shows how all the emotions are combined.

This piece of art was inspired by Drew’s mood switch up. The moon in the picture represents his dark side and the sun represents his happiness. In the picture he is winking because it shows his outstanding charisma. The items on the left are a basketball and a money. On the right is a football and money. He has money on both sides cause he’s rich.

When I first started this project I was frustrated because I did not want to do the assignment on paper and cut out the pieces. Then I figured out that I could do it on the photoshop app. I chose Drew Logan for this project because I wanted to pick someone that has many different emotions. I took a few pictures of him making different faces and then I added them all into one photo. For example, one cutout is from a picture of him smiling and another cutout if a picture of him frowning. This represents the many different feelings and emotions that he has. I enjoyed this project because I was able to be creative and make it how I wanted.

I chose to take one photo and rip it in half and then reposition eyes for the middle. When you look at this it seems like an alien coming out of someone. My inspiration was as if you are letting your imagination out. This shows that someone may be serious on the outside but is childish on the inside. I did a mix of cutting and ripping to add more to it. Cami is represents this image well because she is crazy on the inside.

My inspiration for this piece was to try to make it both unorganized but neat. Like most, if not all of Jean-Michel Basquiat's work, they all revolve around colorful chaos while still retaining some meaning behind them. In this piece, I tried to incorporate this while also making it somewhat neat. The randomly placed pictures are supposed to resemble a face while also not making it completely clear. This project was definitely unique to make. It was a fun experience and I think it turned out pretty well.

My inspiration was the experience of wanting to a girl with pale skin, blonde hair and blue eyes as a POC girl, specifically Asian. Being a Asian girl with stereotypical features, I know the struggle of not fitting into Western beauty standards. This photo shows the identity crisis so many girls around the world go through. The feeling of needing to change everything unique about yourself in order to be liked. In the photo, you can see how the version that is wanted takes up more room. The big space it takes up shows how it is taking over the original girl's thoughts. Eventually, it will take over the girl entirely and she will forget about who she really is.

For my Basquiat project, I was inspired by conflicting emotions. Sometimes, people can feel a multitude of things at once, some rational, some not. They can be both sad and happy at the same time, relived and angry, or tired and excited. In my project, I demonstrated someone being both happy and sad at once. The jagged lines and ripped up pictures show how these feelings can affect us and make us feel unsure. I used different materials, like clay and chalk, to show how these feelings might seem like something entirely new and weird.

For my basquiat, I was inspired by people's real emotions versus what they show. On the outside many people show themselves looking happy and fine. Truly on the inside, they are feeling upset and sad, but they don't want to show it. For this project, I took two pictures of Sam, cut them in half, and put together one half of each picture. I used dark colors on the left side to show when you're feeling sad you think about bad things. The bright colors are on the bright side because they show that you have bright thoughts when you're feeling happy.

Before I started this project, I struggled to learn how to photoshop realistically, and was worried that I had to spend even more hours photoshopping a single photo. I was grateful when I was allowed to do the project physically, like how I used to in art last year. Since I was more familiar with this, it helped me become more creative and try new art styles, like Basquiat. What inspired me to come up with this was the idea of showing different emotions through one picture. In this piece I took a few pictures of Julia showing different kinds of emotions. I then printed it out and cut out the features that I thought conveyed a certain emotion. For example, in some of the photos I felt like the eyes and lips stood out the most, so I cut them out. Then I played around with how I wanted to lay out the photos together. Once I felt like everything looked good, I glued them on. Lastly, I felt like it looked a little plain and boring, so I decided to add some designs like stripes, dots, and zig-zags to make the photo more interesting. Adding the final touches, I drew some hearts, stars, and diamonds to help the emotions a little clearer and unique.

When I started this assignment I wanted to make something that captured a lot of different emotions. I liked a lot of Basquiat's pictures where he put a bunch of different pictures and drawings. I decided to put a skull in the top right to show how we always have the looming fear of death following us everywhere. I made the rose colored to show it's importance, which is supposed to show how love can help people's lives but also destroy them at the same time. The sun is meant to represent hope for the future, and the pasted eye on the face is meant to represent a past version. The crown represents the importance of the person. The scribbles on the right are meant to represent chaos in life.

This was inspired by one of the pictures shown on canvas. I used my sister to demonstrate creativity in the other photo. I did this style because it shows how someone could be really happy, but the grey colors show the more direct unipositive emotions human beings have, or sadness too. This fits my sister because she is a lovely person and loves a lot in the world and likes to do new things especially if it's with me. But just like everyone else she has sad times when she's stressed out. Using Photoshop for this was difficult but it was surely easy to figure out after the last assignment taught me a lot about how to use the app. My whole idea was to make this about a person's emotion and tell a story when you look at this picture without knowing the person.

My inspiration for this picture is the emotions from all of my friends. Leyton's mouth symbolizes happiness. Jack's eye symbolizes anger. And Tristan's nose and Jack's right eye symbolize color, like emotions, while the face is black and white indicating sadness, or being emotionless. These are all emotions I have seen and experienced, so I can relate to this picture very much. In conclusion, this picture represents the emotions of all of my best friends.

When I planned on doing this photo, I looked at one of Basquiat masterpieces and saw a mickey. When I saw it, I thought why not I add bugs bunny because they are both in a cartoon. The football is for one of his other artworks which is called "Boom For Real". I also added the yellow and black scribbles because I saw in one of drawings that there was black and white on it. The crown is there because of he drew yellow crowns on his head. Overall the image shows something that has to do with sports.
