I’m from Jersey in the Channel Islands but have spent a fair bit of time in the UK due to service in the army, in the civilian health service I’ve worked in ED, OOH Primary Care and Pre-Op Anaesthetics. 

Given my last science qualification was a scrapped biology GCSE I’m looking forward to the challenge of university study and bumbling through academic progression. 

In my spare time I work with the College of Paramedics as the Lead for Diversity Steering comms and as an EDI advisor to the student council.

I moved to Bromley (South London) last year, and have found myself back in Bournemouth already for university (and a hint of missing my twin sister, but she doesn’t need to know that.)

I was previously a student ODP (operating department practitioner), but have always been much more interested in more direct emergency/urgent care. My favourite thing about being in theatres was contact with patients - something that isn’t possible during most of the operative journey, which prompted my transfer to study as a paramedic student. 

I am 22 years old and my hobbies/interests include live music, crafting, tattoos and baking. My favourite genres of music are 90s punk rock and 2000/2010s pop punk. My favourite bands are blink-182 and Tom DeLonge’s (blink-182s ex frontman’s) other band, Angels & Airwaves. I have seen blink & angels live around 20 times in 3 different countries and have tickets for the entirety of their european tour in 2022 (13 more shows!!) in the UK, france & germany.

I have been in the Ambulance Service since 2010. I have worked as a Paramedic with both SWAST and SCAS Ambulance Services on both a full-time and Bank contracts. I moved to Bournemouth when I first went to Uni here in 1999 and loved the area so much I stayed. I came back to BU to study to become a Paramedic, and then came back a third time to become a Lecturer here.... so I guess you could say I like the place!

Over the past couple of years I have moved away from the arts and entertainment industry and settled on healthcare for some bizarre reason, so here I am. 

I've worked within the NHS in outpatient services since 2019, but patient contact is quite new to me, having only spent the last 4 months training to be Emergency Ambulance Crew through St John. I'm not particularly academic either, but I am really excited to be put through my paces with this degree!

In my spare time I enjoy cycling, yoga and bouldering - and I've just found a new passion for paddleboarding!
