         <description><![CDATA[<div>A glycophorin is a sialoglycoprotein of the membrane of a red blood cell. It is a membrane-spanning protein and carries sugar molecules. It is heavily glycosylated (60%). Glycophorins are rich in sialic acid, which gives the red blood cells a very hydrophilic-charged coat. This enables them to circulate without adhering to other cells or vessel wall. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Ghrelin is a hormone that is produced and released mainly by the stomach with small amounts also released by the small intestine, pancreas and brain.<br><br>Ghrelin has numerous functions. It is termed the ‘hunger hormone’ because it stimulates appetite, increases food intake and promotes fat storage.Ghrelin also stimulates the release of growth hormone from the pituitary gland. Ghrelin also has protective effects on the cardiovascular system and plays a role in the control of insulin release. </div>]]></description>
