They stated this, because they wanted to prevent another leader from abusing his power. The founding fathers felt as if King George III was abusing his power by taxing the colonies very unfairly and taking away their basic human rights.

The 14th Amendment is the second of the Civil War amendments and states that no person can be deprived of, life, liberty, or property without due process of law. This means that the government could deprive a person of rights only according to law applied by court. This was included in the amendment so that each United States citizen's rights were protected and could not be taken away, unless the court decides otherwise.

Birthright citizenship was created to grant equal civil rights to African Americans and slaves that were freed after the abolishing of slavery. This amendment impacted everyone, because it also states that all citizens are now to be treated equally and with the same protection under the law.

The 13th amendment is one of the most important amendments ever. A very major part or big idea of the 13th amendment is that is abolished slavery in America. The amendment was ratified on December 6, 1865 after the end of the Civil War. This was a very influential amendment, because it ended one of the most controversial times in American history. The 13th amendment states that slavery will not be a punishment no matter what crime the person has committed. This amendment was created to try and give people the equal rights promised in the Declaration of Independence.

One of the main big ideas in the Constitution is the separation of power. Separation of power was created and the three branches of government were formed, the three branches are the executive branch, the judicial branch, and the legislative branch. The executive branch is the branch ran primarily by the president, the judicial branch consists of the Supreme Court, and the legislative branch consists of the House of Representatives and the Senate. The founding fathers created this so that one branch of government did not grow to be more controlling than the others.

This concept states that the government is created at the will of the citizens of the United States. The citizens are now able to elect officials and people of power instead of them just assuming their positions. This was created by the founding fathers to make the government system as fair as possible and to give the citizens a voice in government.

One main part of the Bill of Rights is that some amendments focus on protecting citizens from certain abuses. The second, third, and fourth amendment are examples of this. The second amendment deals with forming militias and the right to bear arms. The third amendment prevents the military from forcing citizens to house soldiers or quartering them. The fourth amendment protects Americans from unreasonable searches, the amendment also states that authorities must get a search warrant to search or take property,

A very important big idea of the Bill of Rights is the rights of the accused, or citizens accused of a crime. The fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth amendments are the amendments that explain these rights. The fifth amendment guarantees rights like, no one can be punished without due process of law, no one can have their property taken without due process of law, and the idea of double jeopardy. A double jeopardy means that the accused cannot be tried for the same crime twice. The sixth amendment guarantees rights like the rights to public trial by jury and rights known as the Miranda rights. The seventh amendment guarantees the right to trial by jury in civil cases. The eighth amendment guarantees that punishments will not be unjust and the allowing for bail.

This amendment was added, because the African-American community did not have the right to vote even after they became citizens, until the 15th amendment was ratified in 1870. This was a very important amendment, because up until this point in time, only white males over the age of 21 who owned property could vote.
