(Responding @Ms. P's question about double think) I agree with Sarah because I don't think that doublethink is truly possible because you have strong beliefs and opinions about something and couldn't truly believe in the other side of your position. In an instance, you could believe in one thing and then in another you could believe in something else, but not at the same time, which is part of the definition of doublethink.

I think doublethink is possible, because alot of people just blindly accept values and views of a conglomerate i.e. a political party or religious systems. While people have a differing opinions of a system they still follow. Like people saying they don't like Donlad Trump's policies, but when told about certain policies they actually do agree with his policy.

I think doublethink is possible. When one's rational faculties are not well developed (for example a child or someone with low intelligence), one may not realize that ideas are contradictory. Also, if one has no reason and sense of self, and if one does not accept their own experience as those in 1984 do, then doublethink is possible because there would be no way to challenge any idea which has been planted in one's mind.

(Responding to @Hayden) I agree that doublethink would only be possible for someone who is mentally insane. As stated by @Elena, it would be incredibly difficult to possess two contradictory ideas at the same time as you would always have a disagreement or bias towards one idea. Because of this, someone would have to have a stronger or unique mental ability to be able to possess these two constantly contradicting thoughts.

(Responding to @Ellie's question about true love) I do believe that true love is real because most people develop strong connections with others. To me, true love is defined as a strong positive emotional connection that you develop with someone. If love did not exist, I do not think humans would react, either positively or negatively, to other humans. True love must exist because humans experience and emotions, and emotions are bound to be felt with any interactions among humans.

It's why we have goals and dreams, and why we work towards things and create stability for ourselves, because we have that fear of not being anything, or being poor, or not being able to provide for your family, and I think the same goes for the government. The reason we have a stable government is because the government is scared of what would happen if we didn't have a government, or if the government wasn't stable, so I think that fear makes us be stable, not that we are based on fear, but that fear is what drives us.

(Responding @Ms. P's question about double think) I agree with Sarah because I don't think that doublethink is truly possible because you have strong beliefs and opinions about something and couldn't truly believe in the other side of your position. In an instance, you could believe in one thing and then in another you could believe in something else, but not at the same time, which is part of the definition of doublethink.

responding to the starting question: I think that double think can occur in certain situations. I think that there are grey areas that exist which means that you must believe two things at the same time. An example is we should believe that we should not 🤬 anyone, however killing for self-defense is acceptable.
