Premier Inn Amadeus Property Management System

Premier Inn optimises revenue with new IT Amadeus system expected to improve hotel occupancy rates.
Premier Inn is hoping to boost reservations by analysing guests' purchasing history

Hotel chain Premier Inn is using a revenue management system to improve the visibility of occupancy levels throughout the year and steer sales and marketing activities accordingly.

The system, provided by travel specialist Amadeus, will analyse bookings to produce forecasts of length and standard of stay based on historical reservations information.

The Premier Inn deal represents the largest implementation of Amadeus' revenue management system to date, with a roll-out across 556 hotels already underway.

Under the new system, Premier Inn expects to improve occupancy, book more guests over less popular nights and reduce marginal costs.

"We wanted a revenue management system that could cope with the unique requirements of our business," said Warren Mandelbaum, head of revenue management at Premier Inn parent company Whitbread Hotels & Restaurants.

"This new tool better positions us to fully optimise the value of our properties, while its statistical reports offer crucial business insights."
Amadeus Property Management System (PMS) is a fully integrated solution for hotel chains that offers a single view of rates, inventory, content, guest information and reservations for all properties within the chain.
 Available at: http://www.computing.co.uk/ctg/news/1817330/premier-inn-optimises-revenue-it (Accessed: 28 October 2016).
Key benefits

Increase efficiencies – the Amadeus PMS is fully integrated and interfaces with local systems to give you a single view of the day-to-day operations of each hotel. This eliminates the curse of duplicate data and fragmented systems but we also know that people are a big piece of the PMS picture and we always strive to deliver a consumer-like PMS user experience that will drastically reduce training investment meaning increased operational efficiency and cost reduction.

Know, and keep your guest – the Amadeus PMS is a guest-centric platform in which you get one record of your guest which encompasses data from various sources including your partners. This helps you provide a personalised service to drive customer loyalty - keep customers coming back. As always, we’re innovating at Amadeus - our new PMS prototype has the capability for pre-arrival dialogue, ‘during stay’ dialogue and pre-checkout dialogue between the property and the guest, giving you more ways to engage with your guest and build a relationship.

Be technology ready – we’re always innovating at Amadeus so that you can anticipate the needs of your guests in advance and be ahead of your competition in delivering them. For example, we know that by next year, more travel transactions will be made via mobile than PC, social media use will continue to proliferate, and a single view of travel activity across all devices will be required – but let us worry about that! We’re integrating our platform with social media channels. So, for example, guests could book through Facebook, and then get their booking confirmation numbers texted to their mobile. (These components are currently in prototype phase).

Be cloud-ready – the big trend in the IT world already, the Cloud will see more hotels realising that they can shift their PMS from being a capital expense (CapEx) to an operational expense (OpEx) by shifting to a SaaS model. The analogy here is why buy an expensive coffee machine that only makes one type of coffee when you could get the machine for free and buy whatever kind of coffee you want, whenever you want it?

Globally-focused – the solution is fast and easy for hotel staff to use. Regardless, of the language they speak, its intuitive multilingual user interface makes it ideal for the global hotel chain.

Hotels (2016) Available at: http://www.amadeus.com/web/amadeus/en_US-US/Hotels-(Global-site)/Solutions-&-services/Hotels_Product_AmadeusPropertyManagement/1319558897252-Solution_C-AMAD_ProductDetailPpal-1319576564603?industrySegment=1259068355773# (Accessed: 28 October 2016).

In-text citations:

(Hotels, 2016)

Meetings Maker increases revenue

and reduces cost at Premier Inn
Premier Inn looked to Meetings Maker to provide a system that was

powerful, easy to deploy and simple to operate. They also needed a

solution that could be built in parallel to their existing guestroom website

and MICROS property management system. It was also crucial that

it could be deployed with no possibility of their core business being

negatively impacted.

Premier Inn felt they were losing potential bookings because they

didn’t have the ability to take bookings 24 hours a day.
