17. Education was secretly watched by the secret police and Stalin made it compulsory and free for everyone to attend.

18. Stalin's relationship with the Orthodox Church was poor as he wanted to have total control on what people believed on. He attempted to shut down churches and have clergy persecuted however it was a failure as there was still half of the population that were still believers and they relaxed the rules during war.

The "Supreme Soviet" was a slightly more democratic constitution established in 1936 where everyone was allowed to vote by secret ballot the members of the national assembly. It only met for about 2 weeks in the year when the Praesidium was elected and the Union Soviet of Commissars was chosen which had Stalin as the secretary. The democracy was in fact an illusion, freedom of speech was mentioned but those who dared to criticise Stalin was swiftly "purged".

These artists were expected and required to produce works of realism glorifying Soviet achievements, those who didn't do so were executed. However, not only do their works have praise and glorify Soviet achievements, they also had to be produced in a way that would please Stalin. As a result, these artists were recorded to have nervous breakdowns for fear that their works will not please Stalin.

19.)

Most of Stalin's defenders were predominately USSR historians. They suggested that without Stalin's assertiveness and solutions, there would not be enough production going on to mechanize and industrialize the Union. They also believed that without rapid collectivization and industrialization, Germany would not be too deterred to invade.

20.)

Some also argued that Stalin's impossibly high targets resulted in a cut in the quality of the products produced, as many were rushed to fulfil the target needs.

The collectivization policy also resulted in shortages of meat supply, as many of the farmers would rather butcher their own farm animals than to put them on the collectives. Food supplies were also often too low, which led to famine. Collectivization and the great purge were also reasons why Ukraine resented the Russians during WWII.

Most of the "best brains" were also eliminated during the great purge of 1936. Many of the best generals were also removed which led to many strategic failures one which involved the swift surrender to the Axis powers in the Ukranian peninsula.
