Through this task, students expanded their environmental vocabulary, raised awareness about global challenges, and developed responsible AI-use skills while collaborating with international partners.

The session started with personal introductions, helping students learn more about each other and their schools. Afterwards, students presented ten attractions from each other's countries, highlighting landscapes, monuments, cuisine and other cultural elements. The meeting ended with a discussion about environmental problems and the issues that concern them the most.

• Strengthen intercultural awareness and collaboration;

• Share and promote their culture and heritage;

• Reflect on environmental challenges and exchange perspectives with international peers;

• Build digital and collaboration skills through online interaction.

As part of their learning in English and integrated in the eTwinning project VIBE “Voices Inspiring a Better Earth”, 9th students were invited to explore the theme of youth engagement and social responsibility. Through this research, they studied the lives and achievements of various young activists from around the world who have taken a stand on several issues, mainly environmental challenges such as climate change and water contamination.

The profiles presented here are the result of that work.

By writing about these remarkable teenagers, our students not only developed their language skills in English, but also strengthened their digital and teamwork competences and engaged with real-world topics that are part of the 9th grade syllabus.

We hope that these pages will show you that age is not a barrier to making a difference and INSPIRE other teens to take action for a BETTER EARTH.

This was followed by a walk of approximately 4 km, during which students collected litter in both urban and rural areas. The initiative was supported by teachers, the GNR (National Republican Guard), and the Volunteer Firefighters, and helped promote physical activity, environmental awareness, active citizenship and teamwork.

The excellent organization of the activity by the Physical Education department should be highlighted, as well as the strong commitment shown by all participants, reflected in their sense of responsibility in carrying out the proposed tasks and their collaborative and civic attitude throughout the initiative.

In collaboration with the Eco‑School programme and under the guidance of teacher Faria and the English teachers, students planted pear and olive trees, symbolizing both environmental responsibility and the long‑term impact of youth-led action.

The activity aimed to promote ecological awareness, encourage hands‑on learning, and strengthen students’ connection to nature. By planting trees that will grow and benefit the school community for years to come, the students demonstrated a commitment to sustainability and to the project’s mission of inspiring a positive change for the planet.

The initiative also highlighted the importance of teamwork, environmental stewardship and the role of education in shaping a greener future. As the trees take root, so does the message behind the project: every action counts when building a better Earth.

Each class created one logo using a medium of their choice (digital design, hand‑drawn art, or recyclable materials) resulting in a vibrant collection of creative ideas and environmental messages.

All five logos have now been uploaded to the project’s Digipad, where they join contributions from partner schools across Europe.

A special thank‑you goes to teacher Sónia Gonçalves, whose guidance and artistic expertise supported and inspired our 9th‑grade students throughout the creative process.

The exhibition highlighted the work carried out during the year, including a student-built Insect Hotel, photos and videos of the different project moments, educational games made with recycled materials, digital games, paintings and colouring activities.

The event also promoted sustainability and solidarity through clothes swapping and donation, as well as a book-crossing activity, encouraging responsible consumption and reuse.

This exhibition was a wonderful opportunity to share the results of the eTwinning project, celebrate students’ creativity and highlight the European dimension of learning, based on collaboration, intercultural exchange and shared values.

It also showed how learning can be collaborative, meaningful and connected to real-life issues.

The structure was built by CP TA2 students Fábio Vaz and Tomás Adão, with the help of their classmates. Using creativity, teamwork and sustainable materials, they designed a shelter that can provide a safe place for insects such as bees, ladybirds and other pollinators.

The Insect Hotel will be placed in a tree in the school garden, where it will contribute to local biodiversity and help students observe nature more closely.

This activity showed how practical work can be connected to environmental education and sustainability. The Insect Hotel was also presented to the school community as part of the eTwinning exhibition, becoming one of the visible symbols of the project’s commitment to a better Earth.

The book-crossing activity consisted of bringing books that were no longer being used and making them available for others to take and read. Instead of leaving books forgotten on shelves, participants had the opportunity to give them a new life by sharing them with other people. In this way, books could continue their journey from reader to reader, spreading knowledge, imagination and the pleasure of reading.

This activity also promoted sustainability, as it encouraged the reuse of materials and helped reduce waste. By exchanging and sharing books, the school community contributed to more responsible consumption habits. At the same time, the initiative encouraged solidarity, since everyone could take part and benefit from access to new reading materials.

The book-crossing activity was also a meaningful way to connect learning with real-life issues. It showed students that small actions, such as sharing a book, can have a positive impact on the environment and on the community. It also highlighted values such as cooperation, responsibility and generosity, which are central to the spirit of the VIBE project.

The activity consisted of bringing clothes that were still in good condition but no longer being used. These items were made available so that other people could take them, reuse them or give them a new purpose. In this way, clothes that might otherwise have been forgotten or thrown away were given a second life.

This initiative promoted sustainability by encouraging the reuse of clothing and helping to reduce waste. Instead of buying new items, participants had the opportunity to exchange or donate clothes, contributing to more environmentally responsible habits. It also helped raise awareness about the impact of overconsumption and the importance of making conscious choices.

At the same time, the clothing swap and donation activity promoted solidarity within the school community. By donating clothes, participants supported others and showed that simple actions can make a positive difference in people’s lives. The activity encouraged values such as generosity, cooperation and social responsibility.
