One of the first ideas of the Industrial Revolution was the Transcontinental Railroad. The railroad made it a more effective way to travel across the country and transport goods. This railroad was built by Chinese and Irish immigrants in 1869. It was built by different sides the Central and Pacific and it met at Promontory Point Utah.

Another big event that happened that led to many changes was the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire. This fire happened in 1911 at New York City. A small fire started on the 8th floor of the building and started to burn the rest because it was made of all wood. About 150 workers died due to the bad safety regulations. The changes that were enforced due to the fire were the sprinkler systems, occupancy limits, and regulatory safety checks.

The reason I chose to do William McKinley was because he ran his campaign about 30 minutes away from here in Canton, Ohio. William McKinley ran against William Jennings Bryan in the Election of 1896. The main issue at this time was what metal use for the U.S. monetary system. William McKinley was a gold bug which meant he wanted gold to back up the supply. McKinley won the election for the Republican party which marked the end to the Populist party.

A philanthropist gives back his or her wealth to the less fortunate. Many of these times the donor will give back to an organization or something to promote good. Andrew Carnegie was one of the first millionaire in the steel industry and he was a big philanthropist during the industrial revolution. There are many examples of people today using there wealth on others.

An interesting thing I learned was that the first Industrial Revolution was in Great Britain. That influenced the change for Americans for more of a hands on approach. This was the change from working on the farms to working in the factories. Prior to the industrial revolution the government was hands off.

Ever since the railroads were invented traveling by train has been a thing. Without the invention of these train systems travel would be much harder. If you think about it almost every city has train systems and railroads. Some people in these cities dont even have cars so without the railroads life would be more difficult for some.
