During grade 11 I had Philippine contemporary art. We discussed paintings made by renowned filipino artist. My knowledge with painting is that it gives a story, connection, and feelings to the viewer. When looking at a painting we were taught to look for the form is what we generally see. Second, is the content is what it’s trying to represent. Lastly, context the period affects the style of the painting and acknowledge the history behind the painting.

On a personally note the only things i knew before going through this topic would be color and basic styles of painting like modernism, abstract, impressionism, and many more.

In depth of this topic it is more complex then what I visually see. There is more to it than subjects, style, and color. I learned that there are different type of balance that allure your direction to the subject that leads to a different subject. What amazes me is the high renaissance style influence by renowned artist like Leonardo da Vinci and Raphael. There style or perspective makes it a part of the foundation of painting.
Their masterpiece were more constricted to traditional and subject of religious figures or high rank officials. Till today, you see art that uses their concept of painting.
