About 8 million tones of plastic waste end up in the ocean every year and a study has found that a staggering 1,557 species worldwide have ingested plastic during their life! In 2019, a turtle hatchling, no bigger than palm of hand, was found dead with 104 pieces of plastic in its stomach.

Wildlife can easily get trapped and entangled in plastics, preventing them from being mobile to hunt for food or making them more vulnerable to nearby prey. If they accidentally get their head stuck in plastic food containers, animals will suffer from overheating, suffocation, dehydration, starvation, and eventual death.

Scientists estimate that since the Industrial Revolution, human activity was caused the Earth to warm by 1ºC.

However what causes climate change?

First of all, burning fossil fuels. Over the past 150 years, industrialised countries have been burning large amounts of fossil fuels such as oil and gas. The gases released into the atmosphere during this process.

Secondly, one more cause is farming. Cows' eating habits contribute towards climate change. When cows eat, methane builds up in their digestive system.

Finally, deforestation. Forest absorb huge amounts of carbon dioxide from the air and release oxygen back into it.

The state can help by making rules to protect animals, cleaning dirty places and teaching people to respect the environment.
