In the short story, there are names placed between the text that can lead us to believe that they are linked to the names of Mexicans whose lives were lost between the battles of having AIDS.

The book's title is a connection to the actual battle of the Alamo in 1836. As a result of the war between Mexicans and Texan Americans, there were 600 Mexican casualties. This could be a possible connection to the hundreds of people who identified as being LGBTQ who have passed.
