         <description><![CDATA[<div>France and Britain continued to steal cargo, because of that TJ pushed the Embargo Act of 1807 which band trade from all countries. Thought the intention was good it hurt the U.S economy. Because of how bad it hurt the economy he replaced the Embargo act with Non intercourse act of 1809 which banned trade with Britain and France.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Lewis was born in Virginia but grew up in Georgia. Then he returned back to Virginia to finish his education. He was apart of the Virginia state militia were he helped put down the Whiskey Rebellion and later became captain of the United states army. He then became personal secretary to TJ. Clark was also born in Virginia but then moved to Kentucky with his family. He joined the state militia then later joined the official Army were he worked with Lewis and then George Washington made him lieutenant of infantry.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>During the French and Indian war France gave up a large amount of land (Louisiana Purchase) The main reason was because of the Mississippi river which was really good for trade. This was when Jefferson made Lewis expedition commander. Also Spain returned the Louisiana purchase( originally French gave it to Spain).</div>]]></description>

The reason they were going on this long and dangerous trip was because TJ didn't know what was at the he actually purchased. They encountered some tribes and received help from them. He collected gifts such as beads face paint tobacco ivory combs and many more.</div>]]></description>

They told the natives that America owned there land and that they would offer military protection for peace. Some of the Indians had good relations with 'White men" but some did not.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Sacagawea was the wife of  Charbonneau (Lewis and Clarks interpreter. Sacagawea was kidnapped by Hidatsa Indians at 12 and was sold the her now husband. She was very important on the expedition because of her ability to speak languages.</div>]]></description>

Lewis and Clark also received double pay because of there exploration and famous expedition. It inspired explorers and pioneers to this day!</div>]]></description>
