I also enjoyed seeing the video conference. It gave me an idea of how a deeper conference can be structured - research, compliment, coach, link - and I like the theory and think it would work well for some of my kids. I wonder how I would differentiate the content of the coach in and link for children who really are not avid readers, who don't read many books or who offer no sharing about the reading they have been doing. It was also powerful to see how students know their strenghts as readers and what they can do to improve. During some of my conferences, I couldn't have made better observations about what kind of reader the student was than they did themselves. One student said that when he reads inside his head he is really good and understands everything he reads.
