The mood throughout the novel Misery is uncomfortable, this is the mood throughout the story it contains the survival of a man, and the painful ordeals he has to go through. An example of this mood in the story is on page 36 when Annie has left Paul alone in the house for a couple of days unable to fend for himself because his legs are shattered, and he is so thirsty that he has to drink his own urine.

Great God Almighty, i'm free at last!" Paul says this after he finishes the last book of Misery Chaplin novel. This has the tone of relief.
