Green Wall

If I were able to make a green wall, I would want it to have plenty of food crops, and in a location that would provide for the most people. I would want to install as many as possbile. The more food related green walls, the more people that they would provide for. I would also make sure that they look amazing, and are well kept. As nobody wants to look at a green wall that is withering away.

Where will the green wall be at?

I would want to put the green wall in Santa Maria. Santa Maria is located in California. I would specifically want it near the mall Where it would then provide for the most people. If it couldn't be put near the mall then it should be put in the most populated part of Santa Maria. Or it would be put near a school.

Design Principles

The First Rule to make a good green wall is to have the proper technology avalible. Next would be to have the right foundation/community that can host your green wall. Next would be the proper plants for the enviroment that you are creating. Finally the most important part of your green wall is to put it somewhere that matters.

Plant Selection

I would want to install many food crops into the green wall. Ones that preferably also look great on the wall. I would want my selection of plants to be adaptable to the changing environment. I would want the plants to be easy to maintain as well. I know that most plants that grow crops don't have all of these properties, however, I think it is worth it to be able to have a community green wall that provides for everyone! Some plants that fit some of these categories would be strawberries, thyme, beets, radishes, etc.

Enviromentall Benefits

Green walls benefit the enviroment greatly! The more of them we install the more cabon dioxide they absorb. They alos help the enviroment by introducing more plants into local ecosystems. Puting many green walls into citys would finally bring back a sence of nature to places that have almost no plants.

Maintenance

The plants on the green wall require many different forms of maintenance. Such as watering, fertilizing, etc. There are many ways to handle the maintenance of the plants, automatically and manually. One idea would be to have to community handle the maintenance of the green wall. Another would be to install automatic maintenance, such as a water line that drips water onto the plants.

Aesthetics

I would want my green walls to have very natural look to them. not just the plants but I would want the wall itself to have the aesthetic of a plant. That way the wall looks as if it was a part of the greenery itself. I imagine that this would be very eyecatching and pretty.

I had a lot of fun researching and designing this concept map. I did find it to be a bit confusing at first, but I managed to learn and figure out how this website works. After I learned how this website works I found it very easy to make the rest of this concept map. I found it very engaging and I would be glad to do it again.
