Unit 1, 14 principals of managment

The 14 principals of management was the first thing that I learned in this course. In these 14 principals the most important principal that I found was "authority and responsibility." This principal stated that there had to be a certain amount of trust and level of trust between a manager and their subordinate. Managers give their subordinate responsibility and authority and in return the employee will be held accountable. Having a good balance between a boss and their employee allows for a healthy relationship that is the most efficient. I think this is the most important principal because ultimately how can a boss trust their employees if they do not do their work, additionally how can an employee do their work if they do not know what their expectations are and responsibility without authority makes an employee useless.

TLDR READ THIS IF TOO LONG

Authority and responsibility is the most important principal because like a healthy relationship, trust and communication are the key factors and without this in a boss and their subordinate will ultimately lead to miscommunication and it will not be very efficient.

Joe Biden is a perfect example of the Democratic party of America because the Democratic party political views are primarily focused on giving people more inclusion in a decision and people more say. For example in 2022 Joe Biden had passed a bill into law ensuring LGBTQ couples are able to have a legal marriage and protected marriage. This bill specifically allows LBGTQ people to feel more included and accepted into society.

The environmental part of Corporate social responsibility is a companies responsibility to help out the environment in means such as reducing pollution emitted in the environmental such as green policies or goals like "plastic straw free in 2025!" This is important to me because I actually care about the environment and want to invest into our future for our generation so I will need to pay attention to companies CSR on policies like "this meat was produced using non CAFO 'concentrated animal feeding operations' to reduce the c02 emissions from cows".

Performance orientation is the the phenomenon of when a person or group is highly praised and often held above other people when they had achieved a milestone or significant achievement; the culture of a business/ that has a high performance orientation is very focused on obtaining trophies and very materialistic. When I first learned of this I tried relating this to what people I know and what types of cultures do I know that are very performance oriented and I would say that primarily in RCSA high and its academic clubs along with a lot of asian culture and asian sterotype. This lokey pissed me off as I am asian and I realized that lots of people especially in my own family expect me to win everything and so does everyone in debate and seaperch along with the school almost expecting everyone in each and every academic club to win an award at the state level minimum, overall it is important to realize and identify what cultures are performance oriented to see who are narrow minded and unfair to people who are not high achievers.

The global business strategy in the transnational strategy means that a company is integrated globally or can be seen in multiple different countries, and being highly responsive means that your product shifts each and every country/culture. This pattern is important when looking at mostly fast food such as Mcdonalds, I learned and found interesting that Mcdonalds had adjusted its products worldwide such as in the middle east that is primarily Muslim to avoid pork in their food and burgers. It is interesting to see where each market adjust for the local people in Mcdonalds because some of what they make is just so weird.

SMART goals are: specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-based. In other words these goals are outlined and clear and concise, they can be performance measured, they actually can be awarded and done, they are applicable for either self desire or academic and future uses, and they have they have an end date. I actually heard of smart goals before this course through my martial arts school and have been setting at least 3 smart goals each year, the one for school was to achieve a top 10 placement in the state competition for debate and I did thank god!

SWOT is one of the three analysis techniques used to analyze companies to identify their: Strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. Strengths and weaknesses are internal factors while opportunities and threats are external weaknesses. I used SWOT analysis during my sun city boards project and this can be applied in the real world specifically to different companies that I apply to in the future as a high role manager/ceo/cfo in the future or even as a high stakeholder of a company.

Corporate culture is very important to each company in dictating the success of each workplace and how efficient it is proportionally to the workers in the workplace and primarily to have a good corporate culture a company employees generally have: a common purpose, coordinated effort, division of labor, hierarchy of authority. I watch a lot of valorant esports and keep up with the different teams and one of the biggest things that I see in my favorite team (prx gonna win every tournament) is that their corporate culture is loose and stress free compared to other teams and thats because of the players are more silly and lighthearted compared to like players from Sentinels which are very strict and harsh and while may win even if a prx member is in the top 5 may not perform in different organizations because of the harsh work environments.

I had used the Hierarchy structure for my sun city boards project and it is relatively self explanatory in the structure with a manager of a manager of a manager with different name titles and positions all the way from ceo to average joe workmen. I would like to put my input into this structure as I would say this structure is what most people envision a workplace to be, but like famously in Apple when Steve jobs got literally fired from his own company because of stakeholders. Most big companies have stakeholders that have a say above the ceo, and while a ceo may be big in a company they do not have the same power as a board of stakeholders that should be taken into account when in a high position in a company.

It is important to understand human resources especially when applying to college because different admission people are looking for different types of people and researching what the admissions officers or basically human resources people will help me personally get into the colleges I want to get into.

Selective perception is an amazing thing which is the phenomenom of a person usually higher in authority is more bias towards a certain person, situation or culture higher than others. In other words if you have a good selective perception towards everyone you achieve higher in life and it is important to have a good selective perception so that you have more opportunities, "Ms Taylor I forgot my homework I was working on debate, is it ok if I turn it in today". "Your fine turn it in today for full credit!" This actually happened and I like to have a good selective perception especially in school so I can overload more work and have good social credit with a teacher to stay consistent in high grades.

I had first read about this theory in the book "the fault in our stars" written by John Green when the main character Hazel had stated that she thought this theory was rubbish because she had fell in love with the other main character Augustine but she did not have full safety and security because it was expected of her to die very soon. The theory stated that you cannot satisfy the needs on top of the pyramid without the needs at the bottom first. As stated by Hazel in the book I think that this theory is rubbish because of the simple fact that you don't need to be secure anywhere to be loved, you could be in complete poverty but still loved by a family and have a high self esteem.

Leaders as stated in the reading are different from managers because of their nature to be a natural heroic figure while managers are less charming and are focused on getting the work done. There are many traits of a leader such as intelligence, adjustment, conscientiousness but most importantly extroversion. Extroversion is a common trait of a leader because they can appeal to a wider audience of people. It is important to understand why famous leaders such as MLK and why they follow them in the political world as stated in 1984 that we should not be blindly following a charismatic person instead of someone like manager who is quick and efficient in getting their work finished.

The theory of constraints is about what holds a machine or process from reaching maximum production and what can be achieved to increase it. The theory is broken into two parts including internal and external. In the internal part is primarily about the actual materialistic restrictions that a process has such as equipment and the quality of labor that the people give out. The external factors is more of the logistics side such as minimum wage to pay each person, and the demand of the market adjusted for the production. This theory can be highlighted in basically in high production company such as Apple which has a high production because of its high demand and since its such as well known company has highly skilled engineers working the technical side and voids some legal contracts by outsourcing its resources and division of labor to foreign companies to produce their products.
