         <title>Know Your Contract! - Overtime as Comp Pay</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Did you know that Overtime can paid out at comp pay? Check out Article 6 - Section 12. Here's the link to the whole <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1aW40tDhGTeck6ZCAYG3ooJhQK0ss6dHt/view?usp=sharing">Article 6 article</a>.<br><br><strong>6.12.1</strong> Approved overtime worked may be taken as compensatory time off only with <em>mutual agreement</em> between the employee and the district, and will otherwise be paid out to the employee in accordance with the District’s normal pay cycle. <br><br><strong>6.12.1.1 </strong>Compensatory time shall be taken at a time mutually acceptable to the District and the unit member. <br><br><strong>6.12.1.2</strong> Compensatory time shall be at one and one half (1-1/2) hours for each approved hour of overtime worked. <br><br><strong>6.12.1.3</strong> Compensatory time shall not be carried longer than sixty (60) working days at which time it will be paid for in cash at the overtime rate.&nbsp;</div><div><br>Curious about what is actually in the 2022-24 Collective Bargaining Contract between CSEA Chapter 150?          <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>What in the world is RBO?</strong></div><div>RBO (Relationship By Objective) is a process for collaborative problem solving issues on a campus or in a department. It presumes positive intent and building positive relationships and culture at a site. <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1z2zjJZPW6q1wfZh5uz1Ta8VmK9KORAcn/view?usp=sharing">Linked here </a>is a list of what are and are not RBO topics.<br><br>A great way to think of RBO is that it is a topic that affects the whole site. If it involves a personal conflict with an individual or a contract issue then there are other methods for solving the problem. Having a POA on file allows your agent/attorney-in-fact to initiate your retirement for you if you become ill and cannot act on your own behalf. Doing so sets up your beneficiary or beneficiaries, if you subsequently die, to receive a benefit paid every month of their life after your death. If you do not have a POA on file and pass unexpectedly, your beneficiary receives the return of your contributions plus the interest paid in one lump sum. <br><br>It is a five-page document that should take around 20 minutes to fill out. It cannot be done electronically or faxed in since it must be turned in with the actual signatures of a notary or two witnesses. <br><br>The <a href="https://www.calpers.ca.gov/docs/forms-publications/special-power-of-attorney-form.pdf"><em>POA form</em></a> is easy to download from the <a href="https://www.calpers.ca.gov/"><em>CalPERS website</em></a> and complete. Since that time, cabinet division heads are addressing the issued that were raised in the survey. Your voices were heard.<br><br><strong>What will we do differently the next time we send out an employee survey?<br><br></strong>While we got some great information from the survey, we also know that there are things we would do differently the next time.          <description><![CDATA[<div><br>Juneteenth (short for “June Nineteenth”) marks the day when federal troops arrived in <a href="http://www.history.com/topics/1900-galveston-hurricane">Galveston</a>, <a href="http://www.history.com/topics/us-states/texas">Texas</a> in 1865 to take control of the state and ensure that all enslaved people be freed. The troops’ arrival came a full two and a half years after <a href="https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/lincoln-signs-emancipation-proclamation">the signing</a> of the <a href="http://www.history.com/topics/american-civil-war/emancipation-proclamation">Emancipation Proclamation</a>. Juneteenth honors the end to slavery in the United States and is considered the longest-running African American holiday. A few people have been dropped from CSEA because their dues weren't being taken out of their paycheck. <mark>CHECK YOUR </mark><strong><mark>SEPTEMBER </mark></strong><mark>PAYCHECKS</mark> as dues aren't taken out in July or August.<br><br>If this has happened to you, please contact Rick Beebe, rbeebe@eusd.org , April Llamas allamas@csea.com and dmino@eusd.org ASAP so that we can get this situation rectified.<br><br>If you have already let us know, we are currently working on this as there are several people who are affected.<br><br>And just a reminder it's a good idea to check your paycheck monthly and make sure that <strong>ALL</strong> deductions and credits are correct on your paycheck.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>We are pleased to announce that CSEA will be offering the Maintenance &amp; Operations Academies this winter. The M&amp;O Academy will provide a professional development opportunity to earn First Aid/CPR and Forklift Training certifications.  This is a one-day training. Attendees must attend the full day for course completion. Registration is $50 and is open to all CSEA members in good standing, however, preferential registration will be offered to those in the Maintenance &amp; Operations classifications. Those who complete the training will receive a certificate for each course within 3-5 business days of completion.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>January 13, 2024<br>8:00 am - 6 pm</strong></p><p><strong>Fullerton College</strong></p><p><br></p><p><strong>Registration Opens Nov 27 &amp; it's possible to get reimbursed for the registration fee.
