On March 28, 1915 Allied Ships entered the strait, but mines destroyed three ships and damaged others. 
On April 25, 1915, the allies launched a land invasion of the Gallipoli peninsula.
After losing lots of troops, the allies decided to evacuate on December 7, 1915. The final troops left on January 9, 1916.
