Montesquieu contributed to citizenship through his ideas that the government was too powerful and should be separated. He highly valued the rights of citizens. He proposed the idea of the three branches, which would give more power to the people and not allow the government to become too powerful. These three branches were Legislative, Executive, and Judicial. His teachings let people question how much power governments have and how much individual liberties are we willing to give for the common good. In doing this he revolutionized how governments work today. BY introducing the three branches of government, he provided the answer to stop mass poverty and unfairness that was happening in the world. He helped influence the American Constitution. Before the American revolution , he was the most cited man in America, he accounted over a quarter reverences in the constitution used by federalist and anti- federalists .

- Montesquieu revolutionized how governments work.
- Without the influences of Montesquieu, we would be stuck with absolute monarchy. Corruption and poverty would be all around us and we would have no citizen rights. This is why Montesquieu contributed the most to citizenship.
- This let people question how much power do governments have and how much of individual liberties are we willing to give for the common good.
