Today I had my first observation at 'Instituto Niño Jesus' primary school.

Students have only one English lesson per week, the lesson lasts only 40 minutes! So I will finish my practice in September! (I hope everything goes well)

Today, students had a test.
The school's secretary presented me to the children. Then, the teacher said 'Hello!' and she immediately started to explain the test in a hurry! She read the tasks in English and then explained them in Spanish.
She told me that she always has to give the lesson very quickly, because they only have one lesson per week. Besides, she told me that she gives all her lessons according to what the coursebook indicates, she doesn’t include any extra material.

There are 28 students. Some of them go to private institutes to learn English, so they have a higher level of English than the rest of their classmates.

All the students did their test in silence, some of them asked the teacher how to write some numbers that they didn’t remember, buy she answered them ‘you had to study the numbers for the test!’

She read all the vocabulary in English and then she said the meaning of each word in Spanish. After presenting the vocabulary she read each activity in English and inmediately repeated them in Spanish.

She gave the lesson in a rush.
One of the students told her 'I'm lost ' many times. However, she only paid attention to him at the end of the class!

What do you think about this?

Next week I'll give my first lesson!!!
Students did a revision of the topics they had been working with (the numbers, the colours, the clothes, a/an and demonstrative pronouns). As always, they worked all the class with the coursebook!
They are very calm students, they work most of the time in silence and when they have doubts they ask to the teacher. Today the teacher listened to and attended better to students' requirements and needs.
Now I have to work on my lesson plans!!!

The teacher told me that I had to give my lesson in another classroom in the last minute, because there was an electric problem in the students' classroom .So, I lost 10 minutes doing the moving of all the material I had for giving my lesson.
I started my lesson. As I was so nervous, I also had problems with the sticking tape! I could only take very thin bands out of it. So I lost much time, trying to take out enough sticking tape to paste my posters on something similar to a board! (At the library there wasn't a board)
When I came back home, I thought about it more calm. I realized that I need to have more control over me. I must have the ability to calm myself, because these changes are quite common at school.
Do you have any piece of advice to deal with nervousness?

Today I had my second lesson . I had planned to have this lesson last Tuesday (22nd August) , but due to bad weather conditions (wind) classes were suspended .

Today I also lost 10 minutes of my class, because the teacher handed in students their tests! So I couldn't give all the lesson that I had planned!

7)Choose a moment that was important for the students during the lesson.
Describe it and say why it was important.
During this lesson students did an oral activity , I was a bit scared ! I thought some of them probably would deny to produce the sentences orally...fortunately no! all of them participated !!!☺☺☺
The teacher was surprised, because many of them are quite shy!!

2. How did the students react to your teaching, to the activities and the materials? I didn't tell students 'repeat after me'. 'It isn't necessary' told me my teacher , and it's true ! If students are exposed to material that creates a good context in which they can learn, they won't need to repeat the vocabulary or the sentences to know how to pronounce them.

3) What aspects of the lesson did you consider successful?
It was very easy for them to learn the vocabulary (body's and face's parts) and the interrogative form of the verb 'Have got' with the help of posters.
They worked very well on their activities.

One of the students said 'I like to learn in this way, it's entertaining!'
