Here are the points that worry me most.

First, I want to consult you about the advantages and disadvantages of taking a gap year. I know that many school leavers in your country prefer taking a gap year before deciding to pursue further education. Would a gap year look good on my college application?

If I pursue further education immediately, what kind of attendance mode should I choose? There are excellent universities in UK, and a bachelor's degree from one of them will definitely help me to find a good job easily. However, the tuition fees and living expenses will be very high, and I am not sure if a scholarship will cover all the costs. Do distance learning degrees offer the same content as campus-based degrees?

One more thing, Trump, I would like to ask you about ways to deal with culture shock. Yes, of course. I need to submit an application, but what other documents do I need to bring with me? How much time would it take me to get my student visa?

Kevin,

I am writing to you to ask for some information and advice about going to university in your country.

I'm finishing high school this summer and I'm thinking about going to university in the UK. Here are some points that I would like your advice on.

First, what are the university entry requirements for international students in the UK? What worries me the most are my degrees and the translations of my resume. Because as a graduate student, I will be awarded a high school diploma and a transcript of all subjects. Is that enough? Do I have to take the college entrance exam?

Also, what kind of accommodation is available for international students? Some universities also offer accommodation in university dormitories or hostels but how can I find them if I am eligible for accommodation and when should I apply? How much is the rental price for each type of housing? Pay monthly or weekly?
And the last and most important thing is do I have to take the English entrance exam? I'm not confident enough in my language skills. If so, would you like to practice with me so I can improve?

I wish you and your family the best. I hope to hear back from you soon.

Best regards,
Hoan

Dear Charlie,
Last time I told you that I had been thinking about pursuing higher education in the UK. I got started to learn the process of applying for a university in London some time ago. Now I have some questions for you.
First, what is the procedure for applying for a student visa? Of course. I have to submit an application but what other documents are required? How long does it take me to obtain my student visa? It is important to plan time to wait for visa processing because the time between finding out I have been accepted to go and leaving may be very close together. Besides, what I worried the most is that there are many things about the custom and culture of your country I have not known so it would be great if you tell me some things I should do and shouldn’t do when studying the UK in your next email.
I wish you and your family the best. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Best regards,
Tan

Here are the points tha I am most concerned about.

The first thing that I want to ask you about ways how to survive the cold and wet weather. Somebody told me that the English weather is unpredictable. Sometimes it’s hot and sunny, and right after that it’s rain and pretty cold.

Dear Jolie,

How are you these days? Have you learned many useful things and necessary soft skills while doing your summer camp? Now, I’m really glad to tell you that I have applied for a study abroad program in your country and have been accepted after such a hard practicing time. However, the joy doesn’t last long but leads to another concern about overseas higher education. That’s the reason why I’m writing to ask you for some information and pieces of advice.

You know, due to the complicated covid 19 epidemic in the UK, the university which I have applied for gives me 2 choices: or staying in Vietnam to study online for a few months or quickly entering school within the next 1 month. Both choices make me confused. The former is unexpected because of the time gap between two countries. Moreover, the latter is also hard for me to complete immediately so many procedures related to visa and passport. What should I go for?

Another thing is that if I enter school as quickly as possible, how can I deal with culture shock and get a balanced life in a new country? You know, studying abroad is not only a new journey for us to discover ourselves and cultural diversity but also a hard time to adapt to different circumstances. Therefore, can you please tell me the way to understand more about your culture in the next letter? I will try to read and find out the most useful information on the Internet, which may help me a little bit.

Finally, I wish you and your family the best. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Love,
Linh
