This song reminds me of Chris McCandless because he is pushing his family away and giving away everything he cared about. For example in the song they say surrender my everything and just change your mind about your family etc. I feel that Chris McCandless is a dead man walking tonight because he starves himself to death. thats why this song reminds me of him when i hear You push and you push and I'm pulling away
Pulling away from you
I give and I give and I give and you take
Give and you take.
I feel sad when i hear this song because Chris McCandless pushed away all the help he could get from his friends or co workers or even his family members.

There’s never a moment when the majestic beauty of wildlfe and all the beautiful leaves falling off the tress.

During my reading of into the wild i found some themes that i found very interesting and i thought i wouls share them . The themes I found interesting in the novel is The impossibility of total self-reliance, Nature confounding human intentions and The difficulty of escaping familial influence.

The impossibility of total self-reliance: Chris McCandless wants to be perfectly self-reliant. He quests for this ideal independence and isolation, but it escapes him at every turn. Also he he wanted to leave everyone behind. Nowhere is the illusory nature of McCandless’s self-reliance more clear, however, than when McCandless heads down the Stampede Trail in what is to be the last trip of his life.

Nature confounding human intentions: In my opinion Alaska residents, for instance, insist that people like Christopher McCandless are fools to approach the wild with the idea that its vast beauty will solve their emotional or spiritual difficulties etc..

The difficulty of escaping familial influence: Christopher McCandless rejects his father, but the same qualities he hates in Walt McCandless reappear in his own decision to head into the wild. Also McCandless is angered at his father’s secret family. He maintains that Walt McCandless lets him and his sister live in ignorance . Therefore he didnt want anything to do with his family what so ever.

In the novel of into the wild Jon Krakauer used Flahsbacks and Flashforwards to explain the book at the end of it and flip to the begininng of the book in the middle of it to confuse us to show us that he was going back in time and talking about the present time.
A flashback is a transition in a story to an earlier time that interrupts the normal chronological order of events .Flashbacksare often used for comedic effectto prove something in the present...

A flashforward is when the plot goes ahead of time for example a scene that interrupts and takesthe narrative forward in time fromthe current time in a story. Generally a flash forward represents expected or imagined events in the future , revealing important parts of the story that are yet to occur...

Symbolism

During my reading of Into the Wild i found four different symbols that they explained very well in the novel.

River: The river is a Barrier, defeat and he faced some challenges that he found very hard to overcome.

Bus 142: As the site where McCandless body is discovered, the bus alludes to his death, but it also symbolizes Chris’s good fortune and search for solitude. That he stumbles upon the old Fairbanks City bus in the middle of Alaskan bush is an amazing stroke of luck that not only helps Chris to survive in the wild for 113 days, but also gives him a place to contemplate his life and belief. Also the bus symbolism shelter ,death or place ,escape of his challenges.

Chris's field Guide to Edible Plants: McCandless intently studies Priscilla Russell Kari’s An Ethnobotany of the Dena’ina Indians of Southcentral Alaska in order to forage for plants and seeds in the Alaskan bush. While a knowledgeable guide, it fails to warn Chris of a poisonous element in the potato seeds that kill him, thereby suggesting that wisdom can be as deadly as ignorance.

Rice: During his travels, Chris primarily lives off of rice, carrying pounds of it in his backpack. Rice thereby represents Chris’ devotion to living a simple, yet dangerous life, always on the edge of hunger and staravation.
