"Low-income adults have more chronic illnesses and a higher rate of death than those who are better off economically. African Americans, Hispanic Americans, and Native Americans are more likely to have cardiovascular disease, cancer, and diabetes than Whites."

- Our textbook explains that low-income or lower socioeconomic status can affect your health in middle adulthood.
- Also our textbook mentions that African Americans, Hispanic Americans, and Native Americans are more likely to have cardiovascular disease, cancer, and diabetes than a Whites.
- Ethnicity is linked to overall health, on page 405, it shows a figure of how African Americans have shorter life expectancies than White Americans.
- Cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and cancer are all more common in ethnic groups. It has been proven that typically African Americans have higher blood pressure which can lead to further health problems. Public health officials don't yet have an explanation for why ethnic groups have differences in diabetes rates. However, people hypothesize it is because they get diseases earlier in their life.
