Racial Prejuice: When Jean Louise says “He ain´t company, Cal, he´s just a Cunningham” (Lee 52) it is showing how racial prejuice is not always only about one´s skin color, it is also about one´s social class status. Also, another form of racial prejuice is shown in that same part of chapter 3 when Scout mentions that Calpurnia had more education than the other colored people. This already tells the readers one of the stereotypes that exist against black people.

"You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view...until you climb into his skin and walk around in it"

I think this quote shows justice as well as racial prejudice. Once one can understand the point of view of a person and consider it, one can justify it. We have to understand the different points of views in order to be just; there are different views in a story. One can also interpret racial prejudice because Atticus says to "climb into his skin" which can be used to interpret the importance of race in the book and the tension between the two races (white and blacks).

"I turned around and saw most of the town people and the entire bus delegation looking at me... I rose graciously on Walter's behalf..."

This quote shows courage. It shows that Scout is one of the few people to be able to stand up for her peers. She tries to get Ms. Caroline to understand the reason why Walter Cuningham had no food. Everyone sees Scout as a 'leader' because she is the only one who has the courage to say and stand up for what she believes is correct and for her peers

Racial prejudice is represented in this expression: “The sheriff hadn’t the heart to put him in jail alongside
Negroes…”. In the book, I could identify people´s racial ideas and how they isolate themselves from black people. Pg. 6 Ch. 1

Calpurnia represents justice when she reprehends Scout for not accepting Walter in her house in the expression: “Hush your mouth! Don’t matter who they are, anybody sets foot in this house’s yo‘
comp’ny, and don’t you let me catch you remarkin’ on their ways like you was so high and mighty!”. Pg. 13 Ch. 3

Scout represents courage in the expression: “You never went to school and you do all right, so I’ll just stay home too. You can teach me like Granddaddy taught you ‘n’ Uncle Jack”. She is capable of giving up school to continue reading and writing. Pg.16 Ch. 3
